Hi,

i used the factory recommended 290kPa for both front and rear...i have gotten used to it since.

keeping them at the factory setting or the tire-make setting will be the best as it wears them out uniformly.

However, if u travel on lots of 'country' roads, i wld suggest u less the kPa ratings by 5%-10% of the org. It shld give u a less bumpy ride.

i don't know if anyone ever read my prevous tread in the DIY section,

but anyway here's a tip, I use tennis raquet grips for my handle grips they are very confortable to hold provide very good grip wet and dry and are even shock absorbent. and they last for about 10 months, they are availeble in any sport shop, but buy the good one about $8-10 they last and are worth it , the cheap one $2-3 last only about 4 months. pls note that I ride everyday, 7 days a week.

Hey Guys,

Just got myself a Maroon (or is it red?) bird yesterday. It's registered in '99 but it's the carb model from '98. I've got a few questions which you chaps may probably assist me.

What's the normal tank range for a carb bird if the rider rides at an average of 100 km/h (I travel on highways most of the time)? I've been told that it is normal to hit 320-340 km before the light comes on. Thereafter, what's the range for reserve when the light comes on?

Another question is what's the best choice of tyres if I intend to travel long distances two-up?

Appreciate if you guys can help me with this. Hope to get myself more involved in this thread.

Guys,

I forgot. Another question (chatty old fool, I am...)..

What's the insurance like for a 30 year old geezer like me. I went to enquire at NTUC yesterday but I did not bring the log card. Based on what I know of the bike (6 years old), plus my NCD from Mitsui & my age, the premium came to $173. I figured something was wrong with the calculation so I rechecked with the clerk. She said that the points for calculating the insurance has changed and funny thing was it still came to the same figure after double checking. I wonder what gives.... I don't wanna get stuck in a situation where I cannot claim (touch wood) cos there's some discrepencies with the policy...
