Ya true..but sometimes it can be the clutch basket bearings or the clutch pressure end plate bearings..but this rarely happens as the bearings are oil bathed so wear n tear rarely happens unless on high mileage engines.

One advice for those who got their conrod or crankshaft bearings worned..its a good insurance to replace the oil pump or at least ask the mechanic to open up the oil pump to see the pump body(internal) to determine the wear. Any deep grove replace the oil pump as these effects the oil pump flow rate. No point installing new bearings if the oil pump cannot supply adquate oil to the bearings.

So the answer is RARELY Unless u going to any shop that u don't really know them, becareful, as they will tell u engine this, engine that, and at the end of the day u going to spend a BOMB...!

Clutch Basket problem is common on CBR1100XX.. BUt not to worry, if don't want sound, change it.

For any engine bearing,con-rod,piston problem quite simple to retrify, buy revving ur bike to 4k rpm, and see if the whole bike rattle like hungry rattle snake then comfirm, bearing kaput liow...

Cheers...

Alhamdulillah.

I do up some research on Blackbird intermittent sound in the engine and feedback gathered was indeed normal for blackbird..

So im not worrying too much on this.. Just need to regular service the bike..

I tried adjusting the RPM idling to above 1100rpm and yea the sound goes away but the bike temperature is way too hot and it goes heating up my groin. Lol.

Then after adjusting the RPM idling to about 1000rpm.. somehow i dont hear any noise since then and bike temperature is just nice.

Still learning her characteristic.. Blackbird is also known as "Mileage Disposal Unit".. So yeah.. Frequent riding and regular servicing to better understand her.

Cheers!

Enjoy the bird bro..its really a mileage disposal unit..mine is still going strong at 185 000kms..only done top overhaul at 100 000kms due to a leaky valve stem seal..some guys even clocked more than 200 000kms (blinks at bluejelly)...

Depends if the bearing can get locally..if its special bearings made by honda then gonna be abit costly..how much not 100% sure..here's the exploded view of the clutch basket...no 17 and 18 is the bearings..

Bro, which means, we can change the bearing, instead the whole clutch basket..???

But i don't thin so they will sell by pcs, most probably the will sell as a whole set..!

Otherwise can get those who have changed their basket, get the bearings as sample..

Depends bro..sometimes bikeshop wants to earn more or parts dealer really got no stock or did not want to stock up so instead of odering just no 18,they order no 2...which is the clutch outer and needle bearing.

I know this coz once i want to buy fuel pump motor for my 05 model (current i'm using 99 model fuel pump) they say only bring in full assembly..cost almost 700sgd..but another option is to go any car sparepart shop and they have something similar but higher fuel flow rate compare to stock ones.
