How can powder coated engine block suddenly turn silver at motordiam

Hi guys

Hope you can help me out. Yesterday I brought my super 4 revo to motordiam to settle my oil leak then mechanic sent me photo of my engine then realise that the top part of the block suddenly no more powder coat and become silver.

I clean my bike how many times liao i think I would know the difference. Mechanic insists that original housing is lighter tone than rest of engine block.

Am i being scammed? Suspect mechanic promised new housing for other customer taking my parts to earn profit.

You see the photo, if I'm wrong please tell me but after thinking, whatever cleaning he do won't remove the powder coat texture one.

Any super 4 revo black 2009 riders out there advise me, your engine block come in 2 colours meh. I would not have bought the bike if it were not all black.20200212_145649.jpg

@fiaery Holy crap, is that the before or after pic? That's a very serious problem if bike shop took your existing parts and replaced on other customer's bike. It's not unheard of though.

Did you eventually get this issue resolved?

Mind sharing the bike shop here so other SBF members will be aware?

it could be 2 possibilities.

1) they use your block and hardcore wash it with machines, thus the colour changes, pretty normal to me. Since you mentioned you clean your bike, I'm sure you didn't clean with fuel, they usually wash with fuel or super strong cleaning solutions on our motorcycle internal parts.

2) like what you suspect, they could have change it, look out for scratch marking that you still recall or use your previous photos as fall back evidence. But if they change it, usually it's "better" could not be worse one.. haha.. unless that motordiam already has a bad name.

indeed.. if they swap it for bad reasons.. but maybe they wash it hard enough that the coating come off lor..

my block also sort of change to silver every time I go wash it.. cuz they use petrol and strong solutions.. :)

*rest assured I stay with my bike and see them wash.. hahaha..

Kindly read thru at least the intro section first before decide to post any comments.... thanks...
