is the nuvi waterproof?

yeah..get the local warranty...otherwise, u may spend more than a hundred bucks sending the damn thing to taiwan for repairs...

Nuvi is not waterproof or shall i say in Garmin language (IPX7) it's waterproof... cheapest range i think is Nuvi200.. local waranty is one think but if the shop claim it's local get a black and white if it's export or not local and if they can sent FOC back to taiwan....

ATwin> u may wanna get 2nd hand from Malsingmap web.... cheaper then can get the bracket from M'sia agent...

Kenny>Where u got ur Nuvi set from???? is it perfect watch?

Posted

nope..mine not nuvi..i have a 60Csx..

it's IPX7 submersible...meaning it can stay underwater for some time (forgot how many hrs)..but mine had water going in and fogging up my screen abt 4 months into usage so i sent back to taiwan for repairs. at that time, i knew i had no local warranty...

perfect watch is not the only shop with local warranty..

http://www.garmin.com/cgi-bin/dealers.pl?country=Singapore&city=Singapore

here's the link for the dealers.. notice that perfect watch is also not listed but i understand they do local warranty

i got a fren who recently bought a Csx from basement of sim lim tower..with local warranty - ie, they do shipping back and fro to taiwan free..not sure abt black and white though they've been ard for a long time...can't rem the name at this point in time...but do ask the shop if they have...

yeah they hav these 2 places at Textile Ctr... One main agent is Navicom at #10-03 ... the other is Allbright on #03-29 of the same bldg but the latter i dun know if it's an agent.. Atwin u can check them on the MSM web under General ; Vendor's corner....

Kenny> U rmbr previously i think u discuss bout the intercom set sold at Regina.. I saw 2type one is the Bluetooth and the other is esp for Nolan or caberg... is this the one u guys discuss tat time http://www.myblueant.com/interphone-motorbike-helmet-kit.htm

Any comment on these product... or any of u guys ever tried and test it???

Posted

yea i heard of allbright before..shd ask these guys what their warranty covers..that shd settle the ambiguity..

yup..remembered abt the blueant..

I bought a motocomm; intending to chat with my gf while touring N Thai last year...but she prefer to listen to her ipod instead..hahah...so have not touched any intercomm from then on..

it'll be great for lead bikes, appointed markers and sweeper but the price to get all these is a major obstacle. one major con considered though was that the sets will be another extra thing to bring and take care of. if the bikes have system of marking and notifying lead bike, then the need for intercom not so great.

think once in a while, we'll forget that one of the reasons we love long distance riding is that u have all the time in the world (or until ur petrol last) to reflect and think in ur own time....:)

Yeah agreed.... all on ur own... but that's my consideration... If travelling with my gf and she's on her Ipod then wats the use of the blueant unless both can be connected at the same time jus like Autocom...or motocomm... ur's u bought locally or overseas.... My intention is jus for my passenger and bike to bike if required but mostly for 1 bike with 2pax... so any better suggestion... I'm interested on the autocom or motocomm :giddy:

Bro, so HuaChin manage to find ur mainstand or did Ian went to sell his extra 'brudder-brudder' price to Ah Koon? HAHAHA...

Anyway, hope to see ur new fixture soon. Till Sunday ok!

Yeah, they managed to find it. Apparently, the lady boss was clearing up the shop on sat and misplaced it. Found it this morning. Brought the stand to the welding shop on level one of midview building and got it fixed nice and proper. Brought it back to hua chin and went back to werk.

Evening brought the bike down got it fixed and went back to work again. the main stand is really something lah. I mean you all have it too, but its new for me. Not got mood to slowly sit down and TOTALLY scrub the bike down. WIll do that this sunday if got time from after werk.

Cheers
