Q: What's the third most common cause of engine problems ???

A: Not changing the oil soon enough after the engine is first run !!*

Change Your Oil Right Away !!

The best thing you can do for your engine is to change your oil and filter after the first 20 miles. Most of the wearing in process happens immediately, creating a lot of metal in the oil. Plus, the amount of leftover machining chips and other crud left behind in the manufacturing process is simply amazing !! You want to flush that stuff out before it gets recycled and embedded in the transmission gears, and oil pump etc...

Why do the manufacturers recommend waiting until 600 miles to*

flush out all the loose metal ???

I ride 300cc can advise too?

I change at 200km although I should have change at 50km

I read from motomanusa that should change oil as soon as possible due to metallic debri that comes off during initial running.

As for my scoot, the drain plug have a tiny magnet stuck to it. When I change oil at 200km the drain plug have a small lump of sludge stuck to it. As I clean it with a tissue I notice that it spread out like a paste and dark Greyish colour that sparkle under the sun. So I figure this are tiny metal debri from the engine though there is no metal chip. I ask a friend and he said it's totally normal and are common at every oil change. So you guy decide, cheers :)

of course u can!

actually all can advise la.

on the "you should change at 50km" this is by manual or by shop's advise?

ya believe those sludge is metal left over.

saw the xciting owner manual, they say to change eo at 300, 1000,3000,5000km

To change at 50km is the mototuneusa motoman advise. Which is 20miles if I remember correctly.

Yup the extension valves looks good. There's another 90 degree angle valve with Colour anodized aluminum But are not recommended because the inner screw may come off and the rubber seal around stem may degenerate over time and cause leak due to higher temperature of rear rim near engine.

guys, besides the eo changing above can you point me to some maintaining tips?

see the manual given and follow those needed change upon reaching mileage.

only use fully synthetic oil after the 3rd EO change ba.. thats all.. lol

Beside the most important maintainence of changing EO

The next will be tire pressure

Battery water level if need to top up type.

Rear Suspension setting

Coolant level

Rear hub oil

Air filter

Spark plugs

Brake oil

Brake pads

Depending on your mileage on your owners manual. There will be a check list at 1 5 10 15 20K ...etc

My Maxsym Personal Review :thumb:

Been riding this bike for the past 1.5days and here is my feedback :)

I not going to say bout the outlook la..coz at this point everyone know how it look like

Engine:

- Initial Starting/Warming up have abit of vibration maybe due to the new "havnt seasoned" piston....we will review this again during the next oil change :goodluck:

- Engine pickup is amazing and responsive :thumb:

- Exhaust sound when idle/traffic light stop..it is as thou like i am riding Suzuki DRZ and very silent when at high speed :thumb:

- I just like the big fat rear tyre 160 (same like T-max)...the cornering u can feel that the bike is super stable :thumb:

- Handling wise is good at high speed with no flimsy or "light handlebar" feeling :thumb:

- The storage compartment is slightly bigger than my previous SW :) but still small :(

That is all the initial review from me :)

How bout you guys?

Sorry the EO change at 20 miles X1.6 is actually 32km

So if you want to follow motoman advise, change at 32km wah too extreme.

For my case when I went for my 1st service at 800km. I didn't like the GT brand oil they use and didn't change oil filter. I drain out and put in Caltex 20W50 which is SM rated rather than the GT which is SG rated which kymco recommends a minimum of at least a SJ rating. I change oil filter which is suppose to change at 5000km and I change to Mobile Premium grade synthetic 75W90 hub oil too.

on the valve it is only add on to the existing, think total cost abt SGD20 ba.

i am looking at this as i dun feel like paying workmanship to change the valve to those L shape. unless i "tahan" until change tire, do it oneshot. i would prefer the anodized kind.

for those that u say anodized kind, dun think it will unless the shop do a lousy job. used those previously on my ride. all ok. btw the original poking kind, also having the same setup as the L type.

Do you have H8 day breaker or very bright Philips one. Preferably yellow type. Prefer the normal one as white light at night give me poor vision as eyes cannot adjust properly and thus fatigue easily.

haha nt asking u to break the law, since ur ride also on projector, why nt HID ? :p will not have unwanted glare to front veh.

nice!

hmm my 2c review,

so far mileage abt 100km since yester :p bring her around.

- once start up, auto choke kick in, idle at abt 1.8-1.9k, once ok will reach abt 1.2-1.3k rpm. good indication of "warm" up.

- idle sound loud, maybe in MSCP. but on the move, cant hear anything, also maybe i am wearing flip up.

- pick up, if u notice u will feel the butt lifting up before moving, imo shiok! :p moving off quite responsive as compare to GTS200 (only own the GTS 200 for 1 mth before i sold it, cant get use to the speed) think move off is at abt 3k rpm.

- while moving, somehow my rpm is always in the 4k range, at abt 80 km/h.

- tire, felt good, got pilot power feel, it will bring the bike "down" during corner and stay there. not aggressive riding but u cant feel that the tire profile quite shiok. will "flip" u around.

- storage space as compare to GTS 200, this felt small although the stuff putting inside is the same (2 set of rain coat (OGK and those cheaper kind) and open face. will need a box if u want to keep your helmet inside. i am using AGV flipup, somehow the storage cant fit in nicely dun noe why. maybe the "fin" and flip up is obstructing, yet to try with shoei if it will fit in nicely anot.

- the windscreen is able to "go" up 1 step. thus higher profile. (go look at your windscreen, at the plastic part, below got two small screw, remove that and u can see how to upz the windscreen)

- rider backrest can have 3 setting but i am using the stock as i am quite tall, 1.8M, i am also going to remove the back rest and so abit of cover up so that my wife when she sit behind dun need to open leg so wide and possibly able to seat closer to u. (i was riding busa for a long period of time, so she always close to me, now not so used. haha personal preference)

- not sure of the FC, but yester went 1st link pump esso to the max shall observe on the FC.

that abt it. havent explore alot yet.
