Trip Report - My Virgin Solo Ride to Cameron Highlands in 14 hours

It was an inpromptu ride, feeling restless at 12am on 4th Oct 2011 thus decided to ride and to Cameron! Heard of the nice curvy roads and the ambience there. I brought nothing much except for the essentials: chain wax, Sonax "tyre fix", 12v air compressor, first aid kit, and rain gear.

 

Moved off from Shell just after Checkpoint at about 0100hrs. Reached Pagoh at about 0300hrs. Reached Tapah at about 0630hrs.

 

I was initially fearful of the pitch black throughout NSH except for the occasional lights at intersections. But there were a lot of trucks plying the highway in the night so it kinda kept me company. Kept my speed between 120-140km/h as I was still a noob.

 

I did not rest while on the way there except for a cup of teh tarik at Tapah. Weirdly, I did not feel sleepy or tired.

Reached Simpang Pulai at about 0700hrs and slowly made my way up.

Had prata and teh tarik at Brinchang area and made my way down and back to Singapore. Initially I wanted to go to the Boh plantation for tea but I probably missed the signage and realised there is no more signage when I made way down to Tapah. Feeling lazy to uturn back up, I decided to head back.

Reached Tapah R&R southbound at about 10am plus.

 

Want to rest and take a nap but could not so I decided to make my way back all the way. Stopped at Ayer Keroh R&R and JB Larkin for petrol. I did not stop to eat also.

 

Reached my house in Woodlands at 1600hrs same day 04 Oct 2012.

 

Smiled to myself that I challenged myself to the limit and overcame all the difficulties while making my way to and fro.

Met a few nice lads along the way back. One VFR at Tapah R&R, one Connie 14 under bridge along E6 and another VFR passing by along NSH. Apparently all was from the same group I think and from Hatyai, as I saw them at Ayer Keroh together..haha

wa cool ride bro. Dun think i have the balls to do that on my drz...tyre punctures on spoke wheels puts me off somewhat..haha...only dare to go to melaka..ride safe!

Hmm like that must get used to repairing it then...if tube tires its easier I guess...

Bro slowly you can do it, I myself rode 125z for 4 years, no touring at all. After getting a bigger bike, I start to tour short distance first then once you are confident, you can tour further!
