Which chain + sprocket combination is most recommended for S4, out of a pool of DID/RK/GPR/EK chain + Hodaka/Driven/AFAM/Vortex/ISA/Honda, etc, sprockets?

Does changing the rear sprocket to a smaller size eat up fuel alot more?

Stock chain setup for CB400 is 525 chain/sproc.

Sprocket sizing F15 R43 ( For Vtec ).

520 conversion available.

Pro: Lighter, Faster pickup.

Con: Wears out faster than 525.

Smaller front sproc or bigger rear sprocket results in better acceleration but lousy top end.

( Good for urban/city riding )

Bigger front sproc or smaller rear sproc results in better top end but slower acceleration.

( Good for touring or long journey trips, good for daily expressway users )

( This setup saves fuel as engine will not be that stress compared to urban setup when travelling on expressway)

Regarding different brands of sproc & chain, usually aftermarket chains are around the same quality, personal preference of which brand of chains to choose from.

For most aftermarket sproc are made from aluminum, its lighter in weight but wears out faster than original sproc if not well taken care of. Personal preference of which brands to choose from.

Do ur research in finding ur favourite chain + sproc setup.

Remember to take care of the chain/sproc for Longevity.

How much loss of top speed can we expect if we install bigger rear sprocket/smaller front sprocket?

Posted

most importantly you must take care of your sprocket and chain! clean them once a week or two. im using did x ring and afam sprocket. standard 525. i clean them once a week or two, with kerosene. i dont clean until clean like new, very tiring. haha! i just clean until i satisfied can already.

Hi all bros, my spec 2 have " tark tark, tark tark" sound coming from below near the chain. May I know what's the problem?, when I take my bike also have same sound then my mechanic say becoz I heavy so the chain too tight will have such sound. After he adjust it is ok but now came back. May I know is it serious ?
