Go LTA, fill up a form, pay about $5. Then terminate insurance. LTA will refund you the unused portion of road tax.

If the bike is to be garaged at a location different from the address on your IC, you will need to provide a letter of authority from the property owner stating he/she allows you to garage the bike there.

Sure you can remove the engine...

Past: KDX200, LC4 400, LC4 620, GSXR750WR

Present: CBR900RRY, Gas Gas EC250, XR250L, XR250RV, XR400 (motard-ed), NX650 Dominator

Go LTA tell the counter aunty you want to do a layup, she will give you a form to fill in.

Remember to bring NRIC. Fill it in and pay $5+ for admin fee, and you are done.

But if you are going to take everything apart in a shop, you will need the shop to write an approval letter for the bike to be garaged there.

If you are going to DIY, then just fill in the address as your house address.

LTA officers will go spot check once in a blue moon to see if the bike is stilll there.

If the bike is missing they will assume you rode it away and fine you.

And yes, you can take the engine out, just cover the bike leaving the number plate visible.

Motorcyclist are the nicest people on the road, try not to kill us.

so long the bike does not leave the carpark or is ridden.Imptly the laid up bike must be at the said layup location.

BTW if you need to bring the bike to Bike shop to do something like repair or eg. servicing before putting on road while still in layup, can inform LTA hotline abt it and than they will ask u to fax a document on the location of bikeshop and copy of ur IC.

Hope it helps.

hello if coe gonna be dead can we lay up the bike? if im not wrong lad up only apply if owner dont have insurance n road tax right please correct me if im wrong thank u

U can lay up a vehicle anytime before the COE expires. For my case, normally I lay up when my vehicle is going major repairs/overhaul which are going to take weeks or months. Not sure if the reason for lay up-ing is valid for no insurance or road tax
