Recently, a friend of mine got his superfour meter lcd changed by some weird people for a high price.. He said the fella claimed to change the lcd itself.. Wonder where he get the lcd only.. Even the manufacturer dont sell it just like that.. Well, this trick has be around for some time and in case some of you didnt know, this thread is up for you..

Its a very common problem for superfour with lcd to get burnt polarised film by parking under the sun.. Its a layer of plastic sticked to the glass lcd.. Without this special film, the digits just wont show up.. Burnt polarising film will just turn black.. And your digits are hardly visible..

For this tutorial, im using my spec 2 since my spec 1 stolen.. this theory also applies to all spec model..

First, find yourself a calculator.. Sin cos tan??

Strip it apart and on the lcd itself, theres a thin film stuck to it.. Peel it off carefully.. Some Comes off easily as they dont stick to it.. Some calculator dont have it, embeded in thier glass itself..

This is what the thin film should look like..

Next, is to strip your bike meter.. Stripping the meter can be quite a headache, make sure that you keep all the screws in one box..

This is what it looks like being a naked dash..

Took the two securing screws off and lift the black plate off.. I didnt wanna take the needle off..

This black piece was used to measure and cut the previous film..

peel the existing film and clean/clear it with alcohol..

Slide the new one in and put everything back together..

Dont forget to test your meter before putting all the casing back..

Finally put back all the casing after its confirmed working..

Job requires a little bit of time, some old unwanted calculators or polarising film from electronics store and some cans of drinks.. All less than 10 bucks.. Dont waste your money to get people to ""change you lcd"" or spending few hundreds getting a new piece..
