oh is it...

Everytime i throw them into washing machine, but i got this washing bag which i placed the liners into the bag before washing them with all other cloths inside the washing machine.

what AGV helmet are you wearing???

I have 01 AGV, but when I remove internal material for washing. It feels unsoft and not smooth like original although maker claim that it can rewash for many time.

after a few months wif the agv titech i think i can make some observations.

my previous helmet was an arai corsair.

these r my personal opinions, of cos.

fit. i wear a size m for the arai, size l for the agv. even then, the agv feels tighter than the arai. it squeezes my cheeks more. i oso dislike the way the agv makes my ears fold when i put it on. some ppl say use a skull cap but i find that i can't fit my specs then. i resorted to twisting the helmet until my ears flip back. the arai has large ear cut outs so dis isn't a problem. oso, it is easier to squeeze my specs in on the arai.

looks n finishing. the agv is certainly better. the integrated vents r much nicer compared to the stick on look of the arai. there were accounts of ppl where the vents of their arai flew off during high speed riding. hasn't happened to me (i'm slow i admit). but the rubber lining at the bottom of the arai keeps falling off so i glue them back from time to time. the interior n exterior of the agv both looks n feels better than the arai. personally i don't like the titanium pieces since they're there purely for show. oh ya at certain head angles n speed there can b a whistling sound on the agv.

visor. as demonstrated by the salesperson, agv's visor is super flexible. u can bend it 180 degrees n it won't break. however, dis flexibility is oso a problem when trying to shut it. often, its right side would not close completely (when using the left tab to shut it). i prefer arai's thicker visor n its stepless system. agv's visor is much easier to take off for cleaning. getting agv's visor to open when it is shut requires a bit of strength (can cause helmet to dislodge slightly). maybe it'll loosen some more in time.

interior. i feel that arai's washable parts r much easier to handle. they r easier to remove n to put back. oso, the agv's strap parts r not removeable for washing (i could b wrong but i can't find a way to get them off), whereas arai's can.

during use. the agv seems to fog up more easily during wet weather. wind noise is bad on both helmets (actually any helmet has bad noise during use), though they sound differently. pls use ear plugs when screaming down the ns highway on extended rides. heck, even 15min riding at 110kph has a good chance of damaging ur hearing. wind buffeting is fine on both helmets. they're both quite aerodynamic it seems. the arai seems to b a little less sweaty, but dis could b due to a slightly looser fit.

well, i hv to say that i'm going back to arai or some other brand next time. the two major deal breakers for me is that i must get my ears to flip back when wearing it, and getting the visor to open when coming to a stop. n if i'm wearing ear plugs, the action of flipping my ears back can dislodge them. dis makes me very frustrated.

well, i totally agreed with you that the ear part is damn irritating issue on the AGV. Since you're wearing glasses, why in the 1st place you getting a tight fitting helmet???

formally i using a arai too, this is my opinion...

FIT: agv is more tight fitting than arai in terms of over all "head wrap", but that mostly depend on the shape of our skull, but i personally find my skull fit nicely into agv than arai and shoei. size wise i too have to wear a size larger in the agv than the other brands. normally i'll wear a full face helmet liner that will cover up most part of my head including my ears...

LOOKS & FINISH: arai uses those old schools vent which was glue together and after some time, it will tends to lose off here and there, especially the fore peak vent, the plastic level thingy always the 1st few parts to give way. i too haven't experience the vent shut off during high speed. interior of the arai is quite warm as compare to agv, this i'm very sure of it as arai is using cloth material as agv is using some other more "high class" material which isn't so warm. i prefer the agv interior to most japanese helmet as it look and feels better. i believe why agv uses titanium instead of other material such as plastic or aluminium is due to tit's specs and it looks as good to me too, at least it won't rust. wind noise i suppose all other helmet have it, just if its louder or softer, but arai is definetly louder then agv.

VISOR: to me i will get a "crash resistant" (sorry i donno the actual name for it) visor. if you have problem "shutting" your visor, then i think you haven't really know how to do it corretly. if you've watch those motogp riders, they usually close visor and they press down the visor from the top part instead of using the left tab. i suppose the left tab is only for opening the visor. removing the visor is not an issue for me for arai, shoei or agv, all of them i'm pretty easy on it.

WASHABLE LINER: to me, all the 3 brands have washable liner, but i don't really think that the strap of all helmets are able to be removed! they are rivet into the helmet shell right...

ANTI FOG: i agreed that agv will easily have the "fog" on the visor, but then again, all helmets including those with anti fog visor will have this problem, what i always do is to open up the visor a little bit to have better ventilation to remove the "fog"...

CONCLUSION: 1st i used arai then shoei then agv. shoei x11 is the heavier followed by arai rx7 than the agv titech, but i like the x11 shell as it's small and it won't look like a mushroom head. wind noise i can't really compare as all of them are noisy. interier material i really must say the agv is better and cooler. the most irritating part of all is the agv when the tip of my ear got squeeze and it's really annoying for long distance riding. after all, its still up to individual and pocket size to do the job...

neither my arai nor agv leaks in heavy rain wif vents fully open.

the same can't b said of my rain gear haha. gotta try the set by progrip (i think) as recommended by endlessloop aka loudexhaust.

but i've heard that the shoei x-11 leaks for some owners... actually i would hv chosen the shoei as my next helmet if not for the possible psb sticker (the lack thereof) issue wif insurance companies...

kailong, i got a tight fitting helmet as i believe that a full face should b snug n not easily moved when worn. it's not so tight as to b painful. i'm sure i got a good fit (esp after breaking it in). the agv is indeed comfortable. i was merely comparing small differences. having worn my arai for 5 yrs i'm bound to hv some preference for it...

i've crashed twice on my arai, both times on the left cheek (dis should convince ppl to wear full face). the visor appears fine. i know, i should change after the first crash but that was when my arai was only two weeks old haha. i'm not sure if dis is a definitive test of the visor's strength though.

the interior of the agv is a coolmax based material. u can wiki it. it's pretty amazing how such a material works. theoretically it siphons off ur perspiration to the other surface for evaporation, so that ur drier n cooler at the same time.

regarding removable straps... i meant the sheaths (the cushion covering the straps) actually. of cos u can't remove the straps themselves... but the sheaths/cushion/whatever doesn't seem detachable. on the arai, dis is possible. they can get rather dirty. try using a wet wipe against it... u'll b surprised how black it gets.

don't mistake me, i do like the agv very much. it looks great n feels great. perhaps i should try to remove some material in the ear area.

please dont mistaken me too, i'm just sharing my thought with you...

Guys if i wanna get cheek pads for my stealth and some other spare sparts, where can i go?

the shop i got my stealth from says i have to wait very long for shipping and he quoted him higher than some online sites. I think i might get them online, anyone wanna order spare parts together?

From what i gather, the AGV online store from the US site shipping is quite killer when i check out the items just to see the shipping rates i think i saw 85USD leh. Then on ebay like only got ti tech cheekpads. Are they compatiable?

doh!

Try using vpostusa http://www.vpost.com.sg to save on the international shipping from US. I shipped in a AGV Longway recently using vpost and the nett cost is much cheaper than what I was quoted at regina. Most US online stores offer free shipping within the US for orders above US$100, so you just have to pay vpost for the US-SG leg.

As vpost charges a base cost for the shipment, it makes sense to consolidate your items (can be from multiple online stores, they will hold the items for you until you instruct them to ship) into the same shipment, but you should try to keep the total cost of the items (including freight costs) below S$400 to avoid paying the 7% GST at the singapore custom.

If you pay your vpost bill with UOB credit card you get a 12% discount on the shipment cost.

Hope this helps.
