You just bought a 2nd hand bike is it?

Maybe the previous owner did illegal modifications, and got summon but did not go for inspection.

Now that you got the bike, the letter comes to you the new owner.

Motorcyclist are the nicest people on the road, try not to kill us.

Maybe some fckers on the road complain about your bike to LTA. My friend kena once. If you are very sure your bike is compliant to LTA, just bring down & shut their mouth.

HAH! Same like me!!!! sorry for laughing tho, just really coincidental.

For my case, it was the previous owner that got into trouble, and I just cleared the inspection. Since you wasn't stopped by LTA dudes, my guess is that someone made a complaint against your bike plate and LTA went down to your carpark to take pictures on illegal modifications.

Here's a list of mine for your rough gauge of "illegal modifications"

- Front number plate font. (Too near to each other)

- Side mirror (Left side missing)

- Front headlight (changed from stock to KTM, considered illegal, pfft)

- Speedometer (Used aftermarket vapor meter)

- Front/ side signal lights (LED)

- Rear/ side signal lights (LED)

- Taillight (LED)

- Unapproved rear number plate lamp (The usually white light that shines onto the rear number plate for people to see in poorly lit place)

- Mudguard (Didn't have)

- Rear reflector (Didn't have)

Your next course of action would definitely bring your bike down to STA/ VICOM, after a long wait and some picture taking, they'll issue you a list of illegal mod(s) you did. Then you'll have to settle each and every one of it yourslf. And go back to STA/ VICOM to inspect the elements again for the final time.

And no, no shop can help you go for inspection in this case, cause it's for the normal renewal of road tax inspection. I mean, you can, but you'll still need to get every one of the mod(s) fixed before going, cause they'll have to take pictures or "proof" that you did change the parts back to their standards.

A little advice: don't change anything BEFORE going for the 1st inspection. A friendly VICOM staff showed me in their computer the mudguard section, and it was atrocious! Not exaggerating. It was a really LONG mudguard with skirtings, it wasn't even the stock mudguard. So, for example, for my case, if I had gone and put a stock mudguard before the 1st inspection, it might still be deemed as "illegal modification" due to the fact that their definition of "stock mudguard" is different from the REAL stock mudguard cause of what they have in their system. Get it?

Well, I hope this helped :)

Although previous owner will get fined, but still now that you are the owner, you need to bear the cost of bringing back to stock isnt it? So in a way you are also in trouble isnt it?

Sad to say, yes. And I've brought it back to stock, passed the 2nd inspection. What I'm not sure is whether LTA would issue a fine regarding the modifications. Any rider experienced this before? Care to share?

i was told by a friendly biker at a bike shop that when shops bring the new bikes for inspection, the shops will put an additional piece of skirting/flap ( dunno what is it called but those KISS flap that u see on some s4) on the stock mudguard. according to LTA, the mudguard must cover half of ur rear tyre and I'm sure most bikes original mudguard wont be able to cover half of the rear tyre, that's why that additional flap was added

I think your case different, you went for regular inspection and then failed right? You were not caught by LTA on the road or didnt get any letter from LTA right? So your case is just fail inspection until you bring to stock, I guess. No fine or demerit.

What I'm worried about is that the previous owner got caught by LTA, beccause I've bought this bike just recently. And I did received a letter from LTA, even though I wasn't stopped by any officer on the road :(

IC. Shouldn't be a problem since they now have record that the previous owner modified it. So its him who will be fined.
