Well to those who are more computer-savvy, they will know that Google can be an effective weapon for vicious people ... I have more than one friend who was blackmailed and had their personal information searched out by some mo'fo who was Googling their phone number, MSN etc and managed to dig out much more info (Friendster, blog, actual HDB flat location based on Friendster comments).

 

Apparently one such bugger MMS'ed his mum with his photo (extracted from Friendster) and cooked up a story about some trouble with both sides of the law (loansharks and cops). Another accomplice kept the subject's phone line busy. It was all to extort $. Not an idea here to let unscrupulous people cheat, but just exposing their Modus Operandi so we can all be aware and take precautions.

 

And before someone comes in to shoot me for posting my number in other threads, let me clarify. A forum nick is used for privacy, for those who do not wish to reveal their real name. So to stop undesirable characters from abusing search engines to their personal agenda, I choose to post phone numbers with spaces, spelt out or with some characters in Chinese.

 

EXAMPLE >> 9150 2814 or 9I5O2814 or 9150281(four) or 9150二八一四

 

 

No need to apologise la ... And sandyanne, dun sad la ... It's all over liao

 

I appreciate the gesture of inviting me for the outing, but please refrain from posting private information online ...

 

Not meant as a lecture, but even in mass-order posts most ppl tend not to put their phone numbers openly ...
