Homer Simpson: 80 at half is like mine before i went to change all my jetting needles.... max i reached last time was 140 but still havent change to reserve tank yet....

 

when u went to service your carb last time how many jetting the mech change? from what i understand (from andy of bikers paradise), FC wont improve just by changing 1 jetting only....

 

my situation is kind of like yours abt 1 month + back:

-just got bike and went for full servicing

-after a few days riding (and still running in new piston so RPM rarely above 6), noticed my FC very high (same like yours)

-went to shop XXXXX to service my carb under recommendation from a friend... there the mech changed 1 of the jetting... on that same day i went to buy broquet fuel charger to further improve my FC....

-1 week later i check and my FC still no improvement, damn du lan.... service carb + broquet also no improvement

-went to bikers paradise and have andy check out my bike... he changed ard 4 of the jetting and put in air filter into my air box also

-currently my FC got improve (120-140 at half tank)

 

from what i understand jetting needles cannot just change 1 piece and hope for FC to improve... each of them has a holes on top with different sizes, you can check the size based on the number etched on the jetting... for FC to improve, all fuel and air jets have to be matching to ensure all the combustion mixture is just right (not too much air not too much petrol)....

 

best bet i think would be to go to bikers paradise and get andy to change your carb settings all back to stock... he always tells me : stock condition is the best, when ppl start tampering with the different settings (pipe, stomach, CDI, carb, throttle, etc) is when FC starts going haywire....

 

if you want i can go with you on monday? im going there to service my forks and other stuff along with my friend to change oil and spark plug....

 

(please note: i am not working for bikers paradise or sandyanne in any way.... i recommend their shop because ive been there a few times, like their service and feel they are a trustworthy shop....

 

also note: i am not a SP old bird.... just sharing some of the knowledge ive picked up along the way)

wah ur fc realli jialat liao... last time i use 34mm carb stil full tank >160km... average for stock sp 200-240km before reserve.... suggest go mech ask him to check out ur jetting sizes...

usually pump 98 ah... better get ur bike checked, fc sure will murder ur wallet one....

why dont you all check by litres instead of fulltank. i think km/l more accurate

 

cos some ppl the full tank may pump till brim, some may pump till the metal thing only.

 

mines arnd 24-25km/l

how can anyone guarantee your FC will be 200++ per tank?? FC depends on a lot of things (riding style, more expressway riding or small road traveling, piston scratched, pillion weight, what you eat, what your girl friend wearing, color of underwear, whether you ride with visor up or down, how long you keep your signal light on, blah blah blah blah blah)....

 

long story short: SP is not a super fuel efficient bike, if you want one that 1 full tank can travel 400-500km, get a 4 stroke kup... next, there are a lot of factors that affect FC, sometimes you have to slowly tweak many of your bike parts before your FC improves.... lastly, SP is an old bike and old vehicles do tend to have higher FC because the parts are more worn out and hence do not work as well as they sould....

 

short answer: go bike shop get a quotation....

Eh so you mean SP actually have 4 jet needles? Because I only changed the one from my carb and still 140km per tank.
