but if stationary the bike alot smoke but on the move not really much leh. Hais but the mech said must reach certain mileage then can tune back to normal. If tune back now will the piston jam easily? Until now i still haven try reach 100km/h scare jam. ):

 

From the internet, SP tuning seems ez on 2T intake. Alwys REM the initial pos, so tat any prob, jus tune bk initial pos. HW often u top up yr 2T btw? Mine abt at least 10 full tank = 2000km or more. Can't rem. Try adjusting no harm. Bro Kindanii is arranging to meet up wif SP riders to share exp n do some tuning of bike. Mayb u would lik to join in for fun. Below is the link for 2T tuning.

we can start with simple things like changing engine oil and carbuerator setting, check/change spark plug, then go 1 small round to test the bike.

 

since SP only use 700ml eo and shop only sell 1 L, we can safe some money. lol

 

I am currently jetting my own carb and it serves me well.

mainjet :160

pilot jet :45

float: stock (non adjustable), the best one is the adjustable type

needle: add 1 spacer to raise the needle (still a bit lean at 4.5k RPM, yet to be adjusted to more fine tuning)

air screw: 2 turns out (yet to be adjusted to more fine tuning)

 

Not all bike must use the same setting, depends on your spark plug, air filter condition, reed valve and other mechanical condition. every bike is unique. ;)

haha still very very far from pro la bro, i read two stoke engine books, SP service manual and watch youtube video and experiment on my own bike. it takes more than 5 combination to finally get it right. just a matter of you are willing to get your hands dirty. hehe

 

come other bros join for a DIY session, we learn together.

Wah bro. It seems like a Main cable. V hard to find it unless go agent. Lucky yr mechanic able troubleshoot. Btw, did u do any modificatn to bike ie add high HID light bulb or use wrong fuse? How can the cable short? V surprising. Btw, b4 u find out its the main cable, any symptom yr fuses blow or bulb blow?

No, this is a stock bike. Stock bike is the best. I only used chiong bulbs. All parts are original. No mod. FR - registered in 2000, 15 yo bike. So many years, under hot sun and rain. Cables sure damaged and shorted. This is the 1st time I change many parts.

Bro if I tune to low any possibility that my bike engine will have problem? Cause the uncle say cannot tune low leh. LOL this month going Chinese New Year maybe after new year can meet up hahaha

Refer to the diagram I posted. U take a look at the height of yr cable 1st. Make a marking wif marker. U hav to adjust the cable "lower" to reduce 2T intake. Mayb 1st time turn the screw 1 round. Start bike c the white smoke. If no effect turn 1 more round n so on. If turn until many rounds say 5 rounds no effect, put bk orig pos. S long s gt white smoke out means gt 2T go in. Better still, if a fren ride SP, compare the height. C if yrs is really "high" side. Mech adjustment is v str8 4ward. Don wori. Btw, HW many full tanks of petrol u filled with 1 bot of 2T? Wat brand u use?

Stock rims? Orange color ones? If spray paint would it b cheaper? NW alot of SP scrapped le. If u knw any bike scrap shop, can go ask. Any1 knws?

 

Tyres also dep which country. New Jap tyres front n bk add up ez 300. Unless u wan used 2nd tyres 30$ ea. I knw the shop. Also mus c if gt yr specs.

2T haven replace since the overhaul. Don't know the brand the shop put worh. >

Seldom buy 2T from shop, but u can ez gt Fr petrol kiosk. I using Mobil 2T low smoke abt 11$. Bro Kindanii calling for SP bros for mt up n share exp n do some simple maint. U wana join? I have not set up this 2T intake before since my bike is not smoky, lol. but from the diagram it shouldn't be hard just follow the spec.

 

Anyway, i have a full NSR 150 SP service manual book soft copy about 22mb size, very very detail manual that makes me confident enough to service my own front suspension. lol.

Bros anyone knows how much it would cost for a pair of stock rims and tyres and where can I get them at. thanks alot.

 

Went to Sungei Kadut scrap yard last week to hunt for parts/ new DIY toys. there is a mountain full of SP stuff you can choose from. Most of the ppl are not friendly, they won't entertain you unless you are a regular. They will quote you unreasonably high.. I asked for a brake caliper laying around $100, rear suspension $300, proarm $500. Of course I said "no thanks"

 

The point is, if you know someone who is a regular you might get what you want in a reasonable price.

1) Otherwise, better go to a tyre shop for a rim press to reshape (if dented badly, if not you can skip this step). 20$ maybe, not sure

2) Buy a sand paper grit 360, and grit 800 (2 each is sufficient) sand them down and wash clean. $4

3) either use Plastidip $25 per can or other brand removable rubber paint (1 can each rim), or spray can orange colour (RED FOX brand the closest orange colour to our original SP) 3$ per can.

4) If you are looking for a better result, always use a WHITE primer before going on the ORANGE. it makes a huge different rather than spraying on bare steel or other colour.

 

 

or just simply go to spray service shop if you want to skip step 2-4. dunno abt the cost.

 

For tyre of course LAB is quite a good deal. otherwise go ah gua lane JB.

Bro kindanii thnx for your help, will head down to LAB on my next payday to check it out. Prob need to certain fairing parts as well as tyres. Do you know the rough cost for tyres at LAB, heard from a friend that a pair usually would cost no more than $150 for SP.

Bros. I realize that every time I park my bike and came back after a few hours there's this patch of thin oil under the gear box. I tried turning the cock off but there's still leakage. Any tips to how to find the leaking area? And how much does it cost to fix it up in shop.

Hi bro. 1st of all don panick 1st. U mus identify wat "oil" is it. To identify it, u mus " see,smell,feel".

 

See - wat color is it ( put on a pc of white paper. If dark yellow, could b EO. If u pump 95, color is red, then its petrol n so on).

 

Smell - does it smell lik petrol? Or EO?

 

Feel - is it oily?

 

Most likely either EO or petrol la. If petrol, chk wher the leak is from. From hose? Or the "cork" area. Then tighten the part to stop the leak.

 

If suspect is EO, 1st u wipe clean the area DIRECTLY below the part where u take out the long bolt when draining EO. Jus below yr engine. After awhile say 1 hr, feel the area. Is it oily? If yes, try tighten the bolt wif a ring spanner or equivalent tool. Rem yr bolt does comes wif a spring washer. Make sure its there. If somehw the leak is NT there, then gd luck u hav to go trace the leak n stop the leak.

 

Let us knw the outcome.

Rpm cable oil seal is 100rm to fix

Erm bro. Rpm cable is connected bet the front wheel (bottom left side) n the meter gauge. Wher yr "rpm cable oil

Seal" located? I hav chg my rpm cables 3x yet to c any oil seal or leak.

 

Mayb u can ask bro kindanii to brg u to bike scrapyard. Mayb he can org a trip for SP riders too. Mayb we can look for fairings too.

Oh bro. I referring to speedometer cable. My mistake. Rpm gt cable? Hmm. So far nev spoilt.

 

My sprocket settings is the standard orig specs. Heard u can chg to a smaller one for yr rear sprocket and yr speed will improve. But u mus b careful the chain might hit the silver color block when yr rear sprocket bcom smaller.

 

Wow, u hit 120 at 9k rpm? Y so high? Did u use orig specs for yr sprockets? Yr rpm is in the red rite? Normally I ride abt 90-100 at 5.5-6k rpm. When 110-20, rpm abt 7k.

 

I don modify or chg orig specs for my bike. Who knw wat may happen? Orig factory settings is the safest. Unless u r trained n well-versed in mechanics for automobile. Come on. Spore roads, u wana go HW fast? We 2 wheels lei, NT 4. Ride safely fellow bros. 1 small pothole or branches may send u flying if ride too fast.
