2T should i use?

Use fully synthetic 2T nothing else. Be it castrol or motul, it will take care of your pistons. Worth the investment.

 

I noticed hot oil(like black liquid) below the engine area.

 

Fully degrease & clean the engine then go out for a ride so you can see where its leaking from.

 

Bike's handlebar seems to be wobbling when i'm breaking to stop at junction but runs smoothly when i'm at 80-120km/h.

 

Might be your bearing that give way. Lock your handlebar, lift the front tyre try to move it side to side. The wheel should not move too much otherwise need to replace the wheel bearing.

 

As for putting in thicker engine oil. It will only mask up the problem does not solve it. You might want to use Motul's transoil or maxima's MTL for your bike else 10w-40 oil is ok.

Hi guys. I am new just got my bike nsr like few days ago. Been in love with SP since I was young and follow this thread since years ago. Recently passed my licence.

 

Went to a few shops to check on my bike just to get an overview of it and 1 shop told me i needed to change new piston for $700 and 2 others told me my piston is lose. some told me to just put thick engine oil and it'll be fine. Last owner showed full overhaul receipt done on January and it's only 2 months ever since. I don't want to sell this bike and I want to fix it. I am lost rn. Throttle cable i think got problem and he told me to change it and it'll cost me $40. I noticed hot oil(like black liquid) below the engine area. What engine oil, 2T should i use? Hi bro. Welcome to SP club. Congrats on passing yr new lic. Nw str8 to the pt:

1. Wat prob u encounter tat make u feel u ND to chg yr pistons? Shop say wat is 1 thing : They wan bzness. U hav to decide urself.

 

2. Throttle cable prob is when u open up yr throttle, it does NT "spring bk" by itself fast enugh. So u hav to manually twist the throttle bk when u wana close throttle. U exp this? If yes, b4 go shop chg the cable, open up yr throttle handle . There is a white plastic "collar" inside yr throttle. If there is some flakes tat look lik "rust", clean them off n put wd40 into the white collar. It shld make it smooth. If prob still persist, hav to chg cable Liao. I chg mine 2mth ago. I face the above prob.

 

3.hot oil lik black liq below engine area. Engine oil is golden color. Y is black I believe u did NT chg yr eng oil for quite sometime. Chg the engine oil n chk the "draining bolt". Tis bolt drains the oil. Clean the bolt. There is spring washer attached to it. Make sure its there. Clean it. Clean the contact point when yr bolt is tightened. If any dust trapped bet the contact point n yr bolt, may cause oil leak. Clean the "surface" just below "contact point wif yr bolt". Aft all the cleaning, rest yr bike for mayb overnite. Chk if there is oil leak at the ground. To c if there is oil leak from the bolt side, use hand feel the "surface". It shld b dry. If there oil leak but nt come from yr bolt side, most like Fr yr engine block. When u ride yr bike, u will feel "smoke" rising up below yr engine area. If so, gd luck. Mus sent to wkshop to repair lo.

 

3. Handle bar wobbly? Jack up front tyre, lock yr steering. Try turn yr front tyre left right. If feel loose, mayb the bolt nut securing yr wheel NT tight or bearing loose.

 

4. S for wat engine oil n 2T, I dono which is the best. But I using shell helix ultra fully syn 5w40. Chg every 5k. Mobil Extra 2T $12.90 at essonmobil petrol kiosk. Ntuc Xtra also selling.

 

 

Let us knw in more details aft u hav try our fellow bros advice. Do nt anyhw send shop if u can rectify or DIY yrself. U can save more in tat sense.

Correct. Last time my friends and mechanic told me every year need to change piston. I did an overhaul once and lasted me more than 2 years. Important thing is that you need to warm up your bike once its up to temperature than no problem if you want to trash it.

Thanks man! I didn't know about the throttle got plastic collar inside! I'll check that first man.

No smoke rose up around my engine area. I'll try to fiddle and find the draining bolt just scared i unscrew 1 thing, everything drop by itself. hahahahaha. Thanks man. All your help is much appreciated. I'll post once i'm done checking. :D

I always start my bike, light up a cigarette and smoke till finish then i move off. hahahahah It's a good thing to smoke huh? hahahahha :D

guys my bike the throttle also ned to manual then can control eh, but likdat i have better control over throttle imo, save my butt a couple of times, just when u needed to speeed up shortly will take some wrist effort. i thot that is just the throttle freeplay?

 

I just let my bike roll down the mscp ramp in gear1 every morning, kinda helps LOL esp when i rushing, last time parked at basement, my bike cannot wake up, when goin up ramp.:sian:

The "draining bolt" is on the left side jus below yr engine. Tis bolt ND to b removed to drain yr eng oil. V str8 4ward. It's time to learn all the ABC abt yr bike. Riders canot say tis tat dono abt their own bike. U knw more, u save more. U take care of yr vehicle, it will surely take care of u. Trust me! Ride safe.

Hi guys! Posting in this forum almost after 5 years! Happy to see this thread going and having the most views and posts! Hope you guys keep our Honda NSR 150 SP 2 stroker going! Our competition is always TZM & KR and maybe 400s at times. New gen 2B sportbikes are no where near us. It's painful to see most of the riders giving up hope on 2 strokes because of heavy maintainence. Currently I'm riding a Ducati Superbike 848 EVO but I'm still holding onto my SP. I have rode this beauty for 5 years and more than 100k km. So if you guys got any questions or issues or whatsoever I'm more then willing to help. Free knowledge for you guys having troubles through my experience. I would like to get to know you all better and hope to meet you guys for riding or chill out sessions. Currently I don't have any form of social networks so if anyone is running any whatsapp groups, I'm more then willing to join!

hi,passed 2b 2 mths back,saved up and now intend to get an sp,just wanna ask you guys if i choose to purchase at shop,will they let me start the bike at least?i doubt they will let to test ride,but starting the bike is the bare minimum to analyse a bike,so just need your experiences in this,would the shop let me start the bike?

Hey guys! I'm posting my update:

 

Throttle is fixed and the problem seem to be that the grip was rubbing against the throttle casing. HAHAHAHAHHA

Oil problem still unable to identify. Attached pictures are the leaks that i'm talking about. Anyone can help identify?

Piston no problem at all, seems that it was other problems.

Went around 130 to try top speed and it seems at gear 5 or 6 cannot increase anymore. Checked online and it seems like a lot were saying about the RC Valve and if it opens i'm able to feel it and i don't feel anything.

I went around to find full coverset for SP and can't seem to find at all. Anyone know where i can get and roughly how much? Been wanting to get one that doesn't have cracks and stuffs so i can respray my bike.

You could ask the spray painter to repair for you.

To be honest. I also didn't feel it at first when the rc valve open. Only a slight difference, and you'll see the rpm go up faster. As for the leak quite hard to determine from the picture but from the location it might be from your oil hoses.

hello peeps, new sp rider here :)

 

don't mind if I ask questions ah.. yesterday tried to kickstart the bike, but after a few kick the kickstart just went down all the way, no more bite liao.. push start still work, any idea where to fix that?

 

another problem is this morning went to the bike, there is oil leak on the side stand.. how ah?
