Erm sori bro. Left out coolant. I chg it every year. I use car coolant Mitsubishi 4litre abt 35$. Premix type. Not the saturated type. So u can jus pour inside the coolant tank. Saturated type need to mix How much water with how much saturated coolant. Troublesome. Can get from any car spare part shop. Take note when when chg coolant, try flush it at the right side near engine area. Remove black hose to drain. If poss later use water to flush then top up w new coolant.

Hi Seniors, care to share about how much does it cost (minimum range cost) for bike full servicing. Possible to recommend the shop (which you think the price is reasonable)

Thanks...

All the while my inspectn at vicom did not ask to test my low high beam. They mus c yr headlight is wking. Then ok. My inspectn centre at vicom bukit Batok. Mayb u can try there. U v sure is yr red button? NT the 3pin bulb connector?

i go sim ming even signal light all also check.. knn.. ya. is red button.. my flash high beam stil working.. i press in still hv high beam.. just that the button will not stucked on high beam, it just go to low beam back. lol.

Signal light of course will chk la. I mention my inspectn centre did NT chk high low beam. Jus make sure headlight ON ok. U wan can go vicom bukit Batok chk. Then take yr time to repair yr red button if u still wan to do it. Honestly, I Nev use my high low beam anymore. I jus make sure my headlight is wking. Tats sufficient oledi. Btw HW much it cost to repair the red button? They gonna change the whole unit? Most likely the spring spoilt.

1) Well 2 sats ago I had my 2T pump reconnected/reactivated as I found doing premix very leceh & messy. As luck wld hv it, the pump sprocket (why is that freaking thing made of plastic?) had 2 teeth broken & had to be replaced. My fast throttle had to be replaced with stock set cos of this reconfiguration. Replacing the sprocket meant coolant & gearbox oil also had to be replaced.

This mech insists for 2T bikes, we must use gear oil (GO) for gearbox as EO is too thin, hence inadequate protection for the gears. So currently I hv 80W-90 GO in my gearbox. However manual says 10W-40 EO. Independent research showed 75W-80 GO has same viscosity as 10W-40 EO. Which puzzles me cos its like comparing honey (EO) to treacle (GO). Can anyone who has experience using gear oil enlighten me?

Anyway, end result is my gearbox is now a lot less temperamental & slicker. Occasionally it would get jammed momentarily in 2nd or 3rd gear, but 1 pump of the clutch is enough to loosen it immediately. On the 1st day after the oil change i also noticed the gear wld get jammed when stationary or hv difficulty getting N. But it loosens up when in motion. Mech taught me to blip throttle to get bike moving an inch or so, clutch in & quickly kick neutral. Which also works. Why? I dunno. I suspect slight misalignment in the clutch plates, hence this problem.

2)Previously Ive always used Shell 98. Last week I tried V power. I noticed for last few days acceleration in 1st & 2nd gear was rough, laboured & draggy. Not sure if its a sign to decarbonise exhaust or V power not suitable for sp or what. Im not sure if my giving some quick high revs after parkg bike had anything to do with cleaning debris out of the system or what cos tonight the ride back home was very smooth. However during ride home I think there might be something wrong with the choke - When I stop, idling speed wld be at 3-5k rpm. But if I pull choke, the revs drop to idling speed. So choke now seems terbalik - pull up = off, push down =on. So not sure if because of choke on => richer fuel mixture => engine not smooth. My fuel consumption recently also very high - half tank & only 55km travelled. The last time I had abt 20km/l.

Vpower burn faster. But at high revs, able to provide smoother acceleration.

Normal road riding, 95/98 more than sufficient. Watch for pocket also very important.

Hi bro jbdoggy. Heard abt yr using gear oil 75w80. Looking at the specs, it seems to b v thick. Personally dono wat is gear oil, but bike n car use EO. Y u wana risk yr bike safety n yr own to try something so out of normal?

Regarding yr gear chg, u mention sometimes stuck at 2 n 3. Is it aft u chg to tis new GO? Whatever immed action yr mech taught u in case yr gear stuck/jam, it is always v dangerous when riding. It show something wrong wif yr gears. So better get it chk n rectify. A normal vehicle alwys hav smooth gear chg. U mus REM tat.

Erm. Try to stick to recom specs for whatever oils use on yr bike. Something new or untested posed safety risk. Y some vehicles caught fire for no reasons on expressways or anywhere? Think abt it.

jbdoggy , your petrol consumption is scary la , please go service your carb and all ,

i also used to use gear oil , but yours 80- 90 like different from what i used leh

use v power onli smooth on x presswway when u dun have to rev so much , your rpm also lower by a bit , but if u need to stop and go stop and go v power also no go unless u say its ok , still affordable .

and laslty , chnage your clucth p;late le ma ?

GO is oil meant to lubricate gears. Gears are among the most highly stressed components in any vehicle, hence its thicker. But from what I read its rating is not the same as SAE rating. hence 75W-80 has same viscosity as 10W-40, but density or weightwise, its much heavier. Mines a 80W-90.

No, gearbox was a bit temperamental before the oil change. Remember my earlier posts? Much improved now after the change. So that jammed in 2nd & 3rd was 2 separate incidents since the oil change. Never occurred again fortunately. But still wondering why gear jams in 1st when stationary until cant get N, but free to shift when moving. When not jammed during stationary moments, v v difficult to find N. Thats why hv to move the bike a bit to free up the gear then can find N.

But there seems to be different schools of thought apparently on this topic of EO & GO for gearbox. For eg, @nucb1983 is in agreement with my mech. GO seems recommended for 2T dirtbike gearbox too.

Ya I was curious abt v power & wanted to feel the extra acceleration boost as some pple shared with me, hence i tried it out. But what you all said was right, most of my riding is on the street not xpressway. Even when i rode on xpressway my max revs betn 6-7k so dun feel any difference.

Im going bk to shell 98 the next top up. Pocket is impt too lol

I hav read papers on tis using higher octanes for cars. It's on section on cars tips. It said use whatever octane recommended by yr vehicle. Using higher octane yr car may not fully burn off the gas, thus not able to give more power. thus wastage on pocket. So I believe tis apply on bikes too. Tats y cars n bikes alwys cm wif a sticker stating recommended octane. SP is 95. I hav tried 98. It gives slight higher mileage. So u pay more = slight higher mileage. So I chg bk to 95.

Posted
So I chg bk to 95.

So comparing 95 & 98, was there any diff in terms of smoothness? Some of my frens who drv tell me that 95 feels a bit rough & that higher quality fuel feel smoother & better pickup.

If no real diff in terms of smoothness & acceleration, maybe i wld jus switch to 95 - purely pocket reasons! lol
