http://app.lta.gov.sg/data/apps/news/press/2013/20130115_AnnexA_VQS_QuotaforBiddingExercisesfromFeb13toJul13.pdf

The latest COE allocation is out for FEB to JULY 2013.

After studying the motorcycle figures. It dawn upon me why motorcycle COEs are so damm high. From the LTA figures, according to the formula it seems that the number of COE for motorcycle is Negative growth!!! That may explain why motorcycle COEs Prices are so damm expensives all the while.

Total motorcycle population = 143,354 units

LTA allowed growth of 0.5% per year = 716 units

All seems alright till this point.

BUT the LTA rule also says, 15% of deregistered motorcycle COE will be allocated to CAT.E for cars!!! Meaning only 85% of deregistered motorcycle COE will go back to the motorcycle CAT.D! Imagine the scenario where all 143,354 units were to be deregistered over their 10 year cycle, the replacement quota will only be 122,567 (143,354 x 85.5%)

So in theory the motorcycle population is decreasing over time at 14.5% rate.

That is unfair in my opinion. As since the start of this COE scheme, no one in the right mind will use CAT.E COE to register a motorcycle.

So allocating 15% of deregistered motorcycle quota, to CAT.E is a lousy idea.

Today I finally find out for myself why motorcycle COEs are so high.

This negative growth quota, for motorcycle, is the main reason why I as a motorcyclist is unfairly paying a inflated high price for the bike COE.

Very sad to know the truth.

Like I said, LTA is screwed up... Take road tax from us, Erp, Coe also take from us... But are the roads becoming bigger or better? No... In fact, the roads are becoming worse thanks to construction of the underground mrt tunnels... They're cutting the roads everywhere, and covering them back up with different materials, causing them to be uneven... They allowing more cars on the road without any road expansions, that causes the congestion everywhere, even on "expressways"... Why I say "expressway", because expressways are supposed to be express, where we can use it to get to a place sooner... But I see Singapore's "expressway" is always congested, so in actual fact, it should not be called an expressway... Instead it should be called a Jamway... Always jam... So much for us paying road tax and whatever Coe sh1t to them... They're using our vehicle owner's money to build mrt, buy buses... Wtf logic is that? Shouldn't they be using our vehicle owner's money to expand the road or what? And use the money they earn from the buses and mrt to build mrt stations and buy buses? It's just like me donating $10 to a beggar and instead of buying some food or drinks for himself, he go buy a pack of condoms... Just an Example... Why the LTA spending our road users money on something we road users have no need for? Mrt line and buses are public transport users, not road users... They should categorize where they receiving the money from... Since they like categorizing cars, bikes, lorries and whatever, why they don't categorize the money? Get what I mean??? LTA is screwed up, thanks to this screwed up government... PAP... People's Action Party? More like Pay And Pay to me... Lol...

Have u been to bukit panjang or bugis where they're constructing the underground mrt tunnels? Go and experience the bumps while sitting on your bike and tell me again that the roads are fine... Because its not... Hurts my balls every time I forget to stand on my bike when passing those damn bumps... Zzz

This is where I dont understand. we are like malay say. cows that are being stuck with holes in the nose. we just follow. i dont see the logic why they reduce bikes coe and then tranfer to another category. is motorcycle same as cars?? they cannot equate that but we just follow. its the law.

Oh, so they did change category E allocation at least a bit...

Still, with 0.5% growth and 15% going to CatE average bike should stay on the road 30 years for the bike population to stay the same.

Funny though, the same is valid for goods vehicles and buses, and they have statutory age limit of 20 years.
