Newbie here too. Thinking of getting this bike for commuting from home to office only. Currently driving car too but seeking more economical way to go to work. Will be visiting this side for more info. Thanks to TS for starting this thread.

Max, i've been trying but in vain to find the washer that de-restrict the sym mob. @ u-tube it looks simple, well easier said than done. Theoritically it said to may have increase the speed ..... yet to comfirm after removing it.

Hi gusruh, am no promoter but personally i find that GTS serve the purpose. Was driving back than from Nassim road to Tuas but the morning road congestion prompt me to ride instead. Regardless of highway or alternatives routes, the congestion is similar. Aforementioned by Max, it has a large storage space underneath the seat (+ point) and other advantage (read through review).

1. What is the laden and unladen weight of the bike. Being a big guy, its rather important to me so that I can choose my pillion.

2. Roughly how much is the current price of the machine? I intend to get a good rear box and bracket.

3. Any recommendation where to purchase, Mah or ASP or any other?

4. I intend to pay in full. Any suggestion or tips.

5. If they giving free gift, what item to grab?

I always trusted buying bike at M1 at Upper Changi...

I bought 2nd hand bike and free box,rain coat n canvas...as i know the saleman..bought 3 bikes there

Gusruh, i think weight would be a secondary issue. I do have staff who're "huge" both rider and pillion riding comfortably, w/o any "hiccups". IF you're comfortable we can meet up w/Max to the shop he recommended. I went to Mah few days ago and offered similar freebies ..... price range (+/-) $7k unfortunately they have limited colors to choose. Am looking for maroon to match w/Nolan helmet he3.

Hi.. Ray..when go down there...ask for saleman by the name Sew Long...tell him i recommend u.. tell him that i bought Nsr pgm 4..fazer n gts....sure he will remember me...ha..ha..

Ray, why not get sportbike for another bike n gts for local ride..

Next year will sell my fazer n get me a new toy...CBRR1000 or Zx10r or the new R1..

Hi Max, noted w/thanks ....... sportbike? Lol my "madam" will kill me ...... well i had my years of riding sportbikes in 90s hence now settle down w/a relax bike. If i may quote a pioneer rider once said "a rider enjoyed the ride along point A to B" instead of mere reaching destinations "from point A to B".

Its a blessing to get to know you Max, maybe you can input some valuable ideas to upgrade my upcoming GTS engine performance lol. I've listed some of the changes to be made such as:

1) derestrict the sym mob

2) change variator weight

3) fuel injector

4) engine stabilizer unit

5) upgrade stock exhaust i.e GPR/TK or Akromovich

6) "alien head" front cover lol if able to get the source

 

Btw do you still remember in my 1st thread about that mechanical part that looks like an exhaust? A friend of mine from malaysia said thats it's an extended mod air valve which helps to enhance the engine revolution. What's your view?

I bought a 2nd hand 09 model gts200 $4300 or $4600 that comes 3mth warrenty, rear box, 2 helmet n 2 raincoat..

The price is negitiable and admin transfer fee borne by buyer. Actually, am contemplating getting a used or brand new one. I have not been riding for more than 16 years, currently driving an OPC and need the bike merely for commuting from home and office only due to change in work location.

 

I am 46 now, roughly how much is the insurance, Hdb parking, road tax and other hidden cost? I have class 2B since 1990.

 

Recently test ride on my friend X8 and find still confident on riding.

Look @ the bright sight, the compulsory monthy expenses is definitely lower than cars ..... Insurance and Rd Tax is annually, the rest are minor stuff to get the bike moving, right Max? lol Nevertheless gusruh, in my opinion "strictly mine yah" i've INC. this sentence under mine lol preferably to take new bike. Too much risk involve when purchasing a 2nd hand bike unless you're a handyman as Mighty Max ha3 IF the bike has no internal problem its ok but IF it does the cost you pay i.e $4600 + transfer fee + repairing (within a year) is definitely not worth it. Am saying this prior to my experience to witness a dear friend hardship. He bought a 2nd hand phantom TA200 @ Toh Guan Rd for $4300/- in June 2011. This is the summary:

 

June 2011 - Bought 2nd Hand Phantom TA200 $4300/- + Tranfer fee $100 + 1st Party Insurance April 2012 $ 400 = $4800/-

April 2012 - Bike start to give lots of technical problem hence send to Dr. Koon for overhaul cost $2900/-

May 2012 to Dec 2012 - He spend approximately another $1000/-

Total spend for the bike - $4800 + 2900 + 1000 = $7800/- (a price of new bike)

Finally this coming May 2013 - He surrender and decided to replace new bike.

 

Well this is "HIS" moral of the story which differ from others who're much fortunate as not to encounter.
