Personally I found the light a little less bright than the stock bulbs and seems the dispersion is smaller. But it is nice and white! So if you travel along dimly lit roads often, this might not be a good upgrade. Basically the whiter the light, the less bright it is.....so be warned.

Easy la....either use google to look for a calculator or use smartphone app!

Wow... thanks gpan. :)

How you calculated the 1.5kg into 148? don't mind sharing?

I read online (cars forum), that they recommend to pump air on a weekly basis... but yday while checking the wheels (by pressing to feel hardness), it seems to be very hard even without pumping any air into it after close to 2 months. Just curious if any of you pump air into wheels regularly...

Posted

Actually can't really tell pressure by just pressing tire....have to use a gauge or just pump at the petrol station.

I think presure should be checked weekly but I usually do it when putting petrol (which can be every month only!)...lazy....haha.

The more frequent you check the better as if you have optimum tire pressure, you'll get better FC, performance and comfort. Plus even tire wear so your tires last longer....

Problem is usually I'm lazy and don't want to get my fingers dirty, haha.

Hi all.

I got a bit excited and bought bulbs from Autobacs yesterday....cost me $20 for a pair of Japanese made H7 bulbs. They are 6000K colour, so it comes out white but some slight blue. Bulbs have a 6 month warranty from Autobacs.

I installed them myself, took me 30mins. Actually an easy job, especially if you have small hands....

I changed bulbs from the front wheel well, reaching up into the fairing. Lots of wires and frame to avoid but manageable. I watched the video and knew what I was feeling for, so I found it not difficult.

If anyone needs any help to DIY, let me know-I'm free to help!

@ Melvyn & Dominic - sorry I could wait. Since I wasn't free on the originally planned session, my backside got itchy and I decided to change bulbs first. Sorry...

Wooo.. the lights looks nice in white.. And thanks for the info.. Did not know that white light will be dimmer than yellow. Grats on your successful hands on!

I am riding a Sym HD2i 200. Bought this model instead of GTS from Mah. The GTS has a short windshield whilst the HD2i does not. While riding at 90kph and above, there is a lot of wind buffeting.

I was wondering whether a windshield will help.

Appreciate feedback from GTS owners what is the experience on the GTS at 90+ kph on wind buffeting.

Thanks in advance.

I think the windshield helps a lot. But I can't really compare as this is my first bike...

My scooter died on me this morning. Would not start. Think I need to tow.

Any recommendation on a bike transport service and recommendation of a scooter repair shop?

My scooter is quite old 8+ years so most probably need an experience mechanic. Sym Joyride.

Heya guys, I just gotten my bike.. I mean just paid downpayment .. But still in e shop. Not riding yet... Maybe next week then get.

Btw can ask u guys, which petrol do u pump for gts200? And how much is it for a full tank? Any recommended card that has discounts at petrol kiosk?

Thank you so much bros..

Posted

Congratulations! Almost there....haha.

Full tank is about 12 liters, I usually put RON95. Can put more expensive fuel but no difference in performance. I have an Esso Speedpass, so I skip the queue at the cashier and get 11-15% discount, I think.

Put the bike on the main stand when filling up and park with the pump on the left of the bike. If it is on the other side, the pump nozzle will have difficulty fitting into the fuel tank, might spill so petrol.

grats rubbermouse...an exciting week for u next week. ;)

i would agree with gpan on what he said except on the different grade of petrol. The difference in the octane is based on the additives they added in the petrol. The higher the number, the "better" it is. There is a fair bit of science explanation which i will not delve in here... will put the rest of the guys to sleep. you can google and read it up.

From my personal experience (experience differ from each individual), if i pump 95/5000, shell/esso respectively, it's not as smooth when i accelerate as when i pump 98/8000. I take a lesser time to pick up.

But then again, that is my personal feeling, so not saying gpan is right or wrong, just my personal thoughts. I did read up that the octane level does not matter as long as you don't hear knocking sound from engine... which means you are not using the right level of petrol.

Anyway, enjoy your ride and ride safe... and welcome to the GTS family. :D

Hi rubbermouse,

If you only need the key to start bike and open bike seat, then you can go to any key shop to duplicate it. I did it beside ah boy for SGD$5/pc.

If you need the hexagon shape thingy to lock the key hole, then i guess you can refer to what gpan mentioned for post #604 onwards...

Yeah, looking forward for our mini gathering next sat for the light bulb change... any body else wanna join us?

@gpan btw, how is your new white lights dude?

@ mark yeow i really hope i can make it on time this sunday if you guys are meeting up... i am away to another island... so might not be able to if it starts early...

Btw guys, I noticed something with GTS 200 today.. Not sure if is it just my bike or its a function of the bike that you guys experienced as well...

When im on the highway, and the speed/rev is high, the steering gets very controlled... Im unable to do big turns unless i really slow down... It gets kinda locked to very small angles of turning allowed.. I guess its for safety.. Overall, been riding for 2 days... Its a really awesome smooth bike...

It's not a function of the bike, it's physics. You can try to "counter-steer" (http://www.motorvike.com/MotoChat_Counter_Steering.htm) or you can google more about it. Most if not all riders employ this technique except we might not even know it. It gets intuitive after riding for somethings. Just don't kup corners too much, most bikes will scrape the footrest if we corner too much, but for us it's the mainstand if you are lucky or the fairing if the graduation does not work in your favour
