What Petrol Grade Do You Use?

Does what petrol grade or brand you put into your motorcycle matter? Are you loyal to any one particular brand like Esso, Shell, Caltex, SPC, or Sinopec?

Let's take a vote for all SBF members to see what the majority are using!

In a nutshell, the higher rating octane means the fuel will resist premature ignition (aka exploding) in the engines combustion chamber. The higher an engine's combustion rating, the higher the level of octane that engine needs to perform efficiently. The higher level of octane combined with the higher combustion results in a more complete burn reducing the fluorocarbons that make their way out of the exhaust system and into the atmosphere. 

So, how do you know what octane rating is best for your vehicle? The answer is simple. Consult your vehicle's owner manual. It will tell you the recommended minimum octane rating for your particular vehicle and that rating is typically 92 - 95 octane.

i pump 92 for my bikes because that is what the manual recommend. i know of friends that pump 98 because they want to keep the bike in the best condition but i follow what the manual recommends.. unless i go jb to pump or if im going trail then i will pump 97 at petronas

Personally I used 95 all the way. When ride is fine, no knock or misfire, no bad smell and when changing the plug it look good after 10k not too wet or too black. I will continue with what I used.

95. I have a friend who does petrol testing for the major oil companies in SG. Don’t believe the marketing fluff. Just pump 95.

what about 92 bro? i see some bikes the recommended fuel at 92 ron is enough. should we pump 92 or 95?

pump 92 later engine blow or spoil will cost even more $$$.... better to just go with 95 for a peace of mind. 98 can reserve for those BMW or class 2 bikes like Ducati
