Arai Helmets

Hi, I recently saw someone wearing an Arai open face helmet and thought it looked really nice. Went to look at it and found it selling for $500-$700. Just wanna know how come Arai open face is much more expensive or even the same price as a full face helmet.

Because you are paying for:

A) The Arai brand.

B) They use a proprietary shell material that only they make. Meaning from manufacturing the shell material all the way to constructing the final helmet, it is all done in house. Other companies buy off the shelf carbon fiber, fiberglass, resin or ABS.

C) Arai loves to spend excessive amounts of time and money on testing. Every station during construction there will be batch testing. Most manufacturers either only batch test the final product, or just batch test when the shell is constructed, then again when the final product is made.
