Good tip to know. What's the reason for failing bro ? Mine is on 22 Jul.

Blindspots mistake costed me 12 points

Proceeded on amber. 8 Points.

And a few more 2 pointers..

Calm and steady wins the race.

Sorry abt your failure. Learn from the mistakes & strive to do better next test.

Play & replay in your mind the entire circuit route when at home or on public transport. Identify ALL the places requiring blindspot & safety checks - bends, lane changes, turns, ebrake exit etc. Make sure you have every one of them covered. Then come for revision sessions, & do 2-3 rounds of circuit each time & put them into practice before going to your weaker stations. Do them again & again until everything is automatic & no thinking required. Constant repetition burns things into memory. Come much closer to test date dedicate your circuit revision sessions to 6-7 full rounds of circuit & self monitor your procedures.

Amber lights & flashing green arrows are quite the bummer really. Gave me endless problems during my road lessons. But this helps - if youre the 3rd - 4th bike in line, just take your own sweet time moving off & rolling forward. Chances are youre not gonna make it anyway even if you speed it up esp at those 2 traffic lights - the 1st one after exiting school & the one coming bk from breadtalk turning into ubi.

Yes dont rush - plenty of time. Be calm & most importantly be confident. Lack of confidence also shows in the way you ride. & testers can spot these signs very easily. I believe testers are looking for confident riding the most, apart from procedures & traffic rules.

All the best!

Yes they do.

Practice practice practice! Dont give points away for timings. Practice & push yourself hard until you make it. This was what my colleague who is a 2a rider strong advice to me after i told him i was tempted to gv away pts for my L5 & whatever else later.

The circuit obstacles does seem hard when trying to learn. But once you 'get it', theyre not that hard actually. Trust me. Been there done that. & be very glad that when you go do your cr, it also coincides with Mr Bahtera conducting L3, L4 or 2a L1! Spend your time practicing at those stations where he's at. He was my F8 & plank saviour!

I repeat: Practice practice practice!

Enchik Bahtera was my saviour for F8 too..... the technique spins into confident for all other stations EXCEPT "THE PLANK"..... he hasn't taught me yet!

The problem is that I for the love of god am unable to recall where exactly thoise mistakes were made.

I'm 90% sure i did all my blindspot checks , yet i lost 12 points 2 for not checking 1 for incorrect checking.

And I also have no clue where i got the proceeding on amber demerit point. And the only one i can think of is the traffic light in circuit where i was unsure if the green light would last till i was there. And yet i still cruised in and turned.

The testor just told me your biggest mistake is proceeding on amber and then he disappeared and I was too demoralized and shock that i zombiewalked to busstop and went home. LOL.

Maybe left turning? At the cross junction before returning back to cdc. No other amber lights to beat on the road circuit 1

Ruled out that junction because I turned right after the 3 blinking left turn arrow which becomes green arrow. So I guess it was amber exactly when I turned and the TP felt that i turned on amber in circuit. :X

Eh? After left turn arrow finish blinking, is green light to go straight. But must wait to turn left if got pedestrian... When green light turns amber, cannot turn left already, turn right still can.

I think lah.. cant really remember.

There was no pedestrian. Green light is a GO for straight , left turn , or right turn. Unless route 2 airport road/hougang ave 3 junction where there is specific arrow lights.

https://www.google.com.sg/maps/@1.334604,103.894537,3a,75y,147.71h,77.85t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sZqxjK2FeGfyi-Ig8shO3QQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

Here there is a left turn arrow. When that arrow goes off, traffic light turned green there wasn't any pedestrian so i continued on. Thats why i feel the proceed on amber (demerit point) is in the circuit.

I'll clarify more when i go back for revision anyway.

Last time if I remember correctly during rr, I proceeded on left blinking arrow. The instructor told me to wait first because the green light doesn't straight away come on, unlike the right turn arrow which appears right after red.

Or maybe there was a pedestrian a few metres away and the tp expected you to wait? If run amber inside the circuit, really wasted.

Posted (edited)

Yes. You are right.

It comes on in around 2-3 seconds. I was 3 cars away when the arrow blink , so I cruised over at gear 1 idle and proceeded when it turned green. No pedestrian la :( I remember clearly.

Anyway its a wild goose chase trying to pin point exactly where I made the mistakes. I'll just go for circuit revision and do my best.

Thanks for the help :)

Does anybody know if right turn at junction after moving into yellow box are we suppose to do a blindspot check?

Surprisingly, I passed my lesson 4 at the 3rd try .... the dreaded narrow plank... and had to cancel 4 practical Lesson 4 lessons ...... so you can imagine how many I have booked and how much I didn't expect to pass it.... my narrow plank still 50/50... Instructor Kelvin Yip today said... don't give him 10 sec, he only wanted 6 secs... so it daunted upon me that I was going too much slowly which had accounted for so much of my instability and dropping from the plank. But faster I am jerky... so I have got many brushing up revisions to do. Throttle really must be held constant, I discovered the hard way. Because any minute throttle on the plank will create jerk and hence lost of balance resulting fall from plank. I confess, is easier said than done!. Someone said, just clutch in and free ride to the end on plank.... maybe that would be a good solution because it will be jerk free.... I will have to try that during revision. Anyone object to that method?

So I received a route map for lesson 5.

Question! I read some other thread say lesson 5 need to go onto the public road and do U-turns??? which is also shown on the route map I received.... Is that true??? From the map, seems like a lot of turns hence a lot of blink spots to check and forming up to do.... Any tips of instructors MOST DREADED catch points??? Today at the E-Brake, pass white line, close throttle, applied both brakes.... clutch in and accidently down 1 gear.....instructor Kelvin Yip, so many steps and motions, he also can see I down gear...that subtle little feet motion of less than 1cm.... eyes very sharp leh... I pretend nothing happened also ganna caught by his eyes.... hahahahaaha.... but thanks to him, I did improved by timely brushing up on all his concise comments and passed......

Nice. Keep going and don't give up to start over at another driving centre. If the instructor fails you, it's because your standard not there yet.

For plank just do whichever method you are comfortable with, as long as you get 6 seconds when rear wheel leaves the metal plank can alr.

Prac 5 is all within the circuit. Ignore the road section, that's for prac 7, 8 and your TP.

Considering CDC as its near my work place to take my 2B course!

But hesitating cus of the feedback from one of the thread I saw people saying how bad the time slots are. Like you'd have to wait for 2 weeks for 1 lesson!?

Are they still the same with the limited time slots?

If you can camp and login to your computer everyday, I think the time slots are not an issue. Even now I login my next lesson 5 assessment can be this Friday.. sometimes could be next day you can have the slot..

You are supposed to slow down when approaching junction, and also observe the junction lights so you can react accordingly. So rushing thru or trying to beat the lights is a big no.

Every turn, lane change, overtaking, MUST check blind spot. Even if it's a short distance after you stop, Check Back and move off for turning, you still need to check. That's why don't rush for such movements, it needs to be pronounced for them to see, in a natural way of course.

Blind spots, you need to check them BEFORE you make a turn, lane change, overtaking, into filter lanes. If you check while executing or after executing, too late liao, deduct points. Unless of course, the tester sleeping or distracted. :p

Circuit obstacles best is to get zero points. Techniques can be trained to Test's requirements one.

Hmm not too sure about camping at the computer but I guess I have access to Internet everyday esp with our phones right haha.

What's the average days between lessons like for you?

Well, you certainly did better then me. I only managed 3 successful planks out of abt 30 throughout 5 L4 attempts. I saw Mr Bahtera sitting at the counter & i approached him for help. He recommended to clutch in when I got on the plank. I tried that method during Cr & I was abt 50/50 - either more then 6 secs or drop plank case. At least i was staying on the plank! I never progressed or improved despite quite a number of crs. Then during 1 cr, he was conducting L4. He saw me really wrestle with the bike towards the end of the plank when i clocked 8.02 secs. That was when he changed me to half clutch method & it was that change of method that got me very consistant & my timings also improved with more practice.

And I was lucky cos there were quite a number of occassions when i went for cr, he wld be conducting L4 or 2a L1. So he wld always be at the plank. So i made sure I used all my time practicing the plank while he's there.

The best thing abt him is he will treat all cr people as if we are his own lesson learners. So we too will get tips, advice & encouragement as well as get timed when on the plank. He neednt do it, but he did it. Thats why I said before he's my saviour for plank.

2 days apart. So that you can still cancel lessons in the event you pass an attempt.

Mr Bahtera, he is definitely my vote of the Best instructor in CDC.

But today, I want to joy that I passed my Lesson 5 [yesterday actually]. I took 10 CRs before going for Lesson 5 and I passed at ONE go with only 4 demerit points [failed to check blind spot]. I think was at the F8 exit. Because pile up of bikes leaving the yellow box clear and no cars, so I continued out from the crane course without stopping, looking right side and failed to look left while exiting on the move. But I still think while on the move from the crane course [continue non stop], naturally you look Right side watch for cars and bikes, where got people look at the left also while exiting out unless you stop there then look back look blind spot???? isn't it? Funny Robot!

However one of my friend failed lesson 5 today. Because overly confident and showing no respect to the plank course [immediate failure].

Before lesson 5 started, he was boasting that one instructor taught him time saving technique at the plank course, to intermittently step on the rear brake, each step earn 1 seconds, 3 steps earn 3 seconds.. He called it "CHUD CHUD a bit of time" you get what I mean... I told him to make it simple at the plank... When his lesson 5 started, I wished him good luck and left for home. Before I reached home, received a message from him saying "No Good", But he stopped short of telling me that he got immediately failure at the plank until I pressed for the reason. Hahahahahahah no more "CHUD" "CHUD" technique for him.

Yeap, not to forget to thanks also another good instructor. His name is Sulaiman, I hope I spelt that right. You see, while during CR, you can see people grabbed bike, but I concentrate to approach instructor Sulaiman and told him to listen to my understanding of the course by my recitation instead of him speaking ... so I went like this... "at the start point, wait for signal, bike signal left, look back look blind spot then I turn left...slowing filter to the right lane + check blind spot right.... etc..etc... until I ended with going back to start point. So he patiently spend his time listen to me and correct me.......like... don't forget to inch up here because wall block you.... after the slope cannot inch up...etc.. etc... Whow! man perfect coaching......

Lesson 6 here I come.....
