Guys any recommendation which workshop to go to repair FZ1?

 

I had an accident on Thursday, hit a car along PIE twds Tuas Jln Bahar exit. It was my fault I guess. My handle bar is bent. Left side of fairing badly scratched. Right side also scratched. Radiator seemed to be bent. Gear lever bent.

 

As for myself, just my right index fingernail gone, minor wounds on ring and little finger. Gone for day surgery to have it fixed up. My fault for not wearing gloves, although I have one at home. 2 weeks hospitalisation leave.

 

The front head fairing roughly anyone know how much it cost ah?

 

Sorry for late response, too much s**t hitting the fan lately. Sorry to hear about your accident, but at least you're mostly ok.

 

From my experience, these are the pointers I can give:

1. You must make a police report for any accident that results in MC of 3 or more days. No matter if either party is claiming from the other or not.

2. You should/must inform your insurance company of the accident, make a full report. No matter if either party is claiming from your insurance or not.

 

As for claiming from insurance...

- If you feel that it was your fault and agree to his claim, then I guess that's that.

- If you want to contest his claim, you will need to say that the accident was his fault, or at least 50/50. Then you can try claiming your damage against his insurance as well.

- If you have comprehensive insurance, of course you have the option of claiming your own damage from it.

 

Once there is any claim against your insurance, either by yourself or by the car driver, you will lose your NCD and your premium next year will go up (the exact % loading depends on the amount claimed). This might be worth keeping in mind if the car is claiming against you - since your insurance is going to go up anyway, you might want to go ahead and claim your own damage as well. Otherwise of course you can do the maths and see if it works out better to settle directly with the other driver and pay for your own damages without claiming any insurance at all.

 

All of the above is from my own knowledge/experience, someone please correct if I am wrong :)

The bulb in your image here says 35/35W, which is roughly what I would expect. The ones I saw at LimBat last weekend were rated 120/130W... which IMHO seemed waaaaayyyy too high. The whole point of the HIR technology is supposed to be greater light output without increasing power consumption. For 120/130W consumption, any comparison of brightness against a regular 55/65W halogen bulb seems invalid o_O

 

I have just switched my turn signal bulbs to LEDs (from LimBat). They flash much brighter, though the blinking rate has gone up a bit too much for my tastes. Should be a bit lower on the power - I calculated that each LED bulb consumes approx 10W, as opposed to the 21W consumed by stock bulbs.

 

Now looking for clear lenses to replace the stock orange colour (since the LEDs already flash amber) and then perhaps an LED tail light unit from Clear Alternatives. It would help if I had someone giving me ang pao :cheeky:
