we are talking HH sintered pads front, EBC pads from Sporting Motors $70/set, Braking pads $60+, Best bet is SBS from Motoworld $35/set. Rear pads preferably organic type to avoid wheel lock. A bit of physics here, when you brake, your momentum causes weight transfer to front wheels aka brake dive. Consequently rear wheel get lifted, losing traction. Therefore softer rear brake critical, so you can see why bike engineers specify small brakes for rear, unlike massive dual discs for front.

umm, guys? Anyone tried to self service the fazer?

I would prefer to change Engine Oil, Oil Filter, Spark Plugs and Coolant myself.

The thing is, access to the spark plugs is such a tight fit. The tools that i have could happily service a CB400, but it wont fit the fazer even when i removed the fuel tank. Mechanics at my motortiam used an interesting snake head extension to a socket T-Bar, which he attached a plug opener. I am looking for a similar tool for personal use. the snake head extensions i can find, but the plug opener extension i am having trouble finding. any suggestions?

also, i just sent the bike in again. this time, two cylinders not firing. going to try changing the plugs entirely, and service/tune the carburettor. and see if that fixes it. if not, this one will be a rather unhappy camper.

EO, coolant and filter is easy...

but for plugs.. it's a messy affair.. you have to drop your radiator in order to get access to the plugs.. and if you are not changing your coolant at the same time, it's a PITA to get to the plugs..

spark plugs tools, can always go to jalan besar and get the tools.. but the tools ain't cheap.. unless you are just getting 1 pc or so..

Stock is good...Choose your weapon wisely and enjoy it...you can have all the $$$$ to mod and in the end you can't make full use of it....
