<RIDE> 20 Days Riding trip up north, Malaysia Thailand Laos, 2 Nov 2013 - 21 Nov 2013

Hello guys,

Im planning a 20 days riding trip to Malaysia Thailand and Laos on the dates mentioned above. This ride is of minimal planning, just want to ride and visit places, try out different foods and be back by 20days.

The rough plan and places we are going are:

Start point Gelang Patah RnR

ride to Hatyai

train ride to Bangkok

train ride to Phitsanulok

ride up to Mae Hong Son via Tak, Mae Sot, Mae Sariang

ride to Chiang Mai

visit the Golden Triangle

ride to Chiang Khong and enter Laos

ride to Luang Prabang

ride to Vang Vieng

ride to Vientane

enter back to Thailand

ride to Nakhon Ratchasima

ride to Bangkok

take the train back to hatyai/ride down

ride back home

The plan above is just a rough sketch of what i have in mind. I did some calculation and planned out the days, dont worry 20 days is sufficient.

Me and my brother are down for this trip. Im riding Crosstourer and my bro is riding Fazer 1. This will be our first time taking the train and entering Laos. Nevertheless we are game for some adventure.

Im opening the floor to those interested, and for those who have experience maybe could join us or maybe provide us some tips!

The plan is still not concrete yet, if time permits we would like to park our bikes at the border and take a bus to Kunming (as riding in China takes alot of preparation and money, this part we will save for the next big trip)

So to those interested please feel free to join! And i welcome any views and advice too! :)

Bro..

just some comments...

why not train ride to Chiang Mai? or ride up from BKK?

Kumning? Takes 10hrs + bro..

Not recommended thru.. :)

Plan looks good to be within 20 days.. Just remember to buffer more time at the end cuz, you might wan to stay more nights at some places where it interest you.. :)

Just remember, take whatever comes your way! :)

Kindly read thru at least the intro section first before decide to post any comments.... thanks...

My group did a similar trip, albeit going in the opposite direction but touching on more or less the same areas as what you have listed. We took 14 days by riding all the way up and taking the train back from CM-Bkk-HY (skipping MHS) on much smaller bikes, so your plan is very sound. :thumb:

P.S. Did you choose Nakhon Ratchasima from your experience? It's a beautiful place with lots of bends, totally worth the time going there!
