all renown watches are either mechanical (manual wind) or automatic (self winfding)

 

as long as you wear it , it will not stop. but if you leave it on the table for 2 days it will stop as the stored energy is used up.

 

watch collectors use a winding machine which holds the watch while rotating it when it is not worn

regarding the seiko chrono:-

that is not the hour hand for reading time

that is the hour hand for the stopwatch function

you read time from the south biggest dial.

the west dial north dial and east dial are for stop watch and lap timing functions.

 

 

 

basically an analog watch for such functions are useless becos people will use a digital watch for real life timing purposes. however , many branded watches still feature chrono functions becos it is a display of the complicated yet possible movements.

 

other popular chronos include the Omega speedmaster, the Rolex Daytona, the royal Oak chrono, IWC, Breitling, etc etc..........
