1st day Bike Report: FY **20

RXZ header + Belly pan. black with some grey design. Absolutely loving it.

Odometer & Trip meter reset, so I don't know how long this baby has been going, but today I travlled close to 70kms since I picked it up at CKA HQ. erm.. Petrol seems pretty accurate, but i think mileage approx 25 - 27 km/l. will monitor..

Pump prices to expensive to top full tank. But i think something is wrong.. from near empty, i top up ard 10 litres, but still the needle didn't go past the half-tank mark. other wise, estimated consumption seems pretty accuate.

Yes. It vibrates like crazy. around 4.5~5.5k rpm mark, and beyond 9k rpm. when you're in the sweet zone, this baby is a pleasure to ride.

EO is by Chexx.. off the shelf at CKA HQ. German stuff, according to roy. 10w-50 the rating.

1st service at 1000 km, so by then should be around 2 full tanks, or apprx 80 bucks worth of petrol. *sadded by high fuel prices*

didn't dare to let the bike scream too much, was cruising around 85 kmh, rpm was around 7.5k.. I wonder what happens when u touch the redline..

Bike stalled twice on the road.. poor acceleration.. Engine braking is quite ok.. but down shifting is pretty rough, perhaps its my echnique, or the EO. But i think its my technique. too used to letting the engine grind when i trying to stop.

in search of neutral... when its in neutral, and no matter how u kick, and still can't engage 1st gear, let go of the clutch. then try again...

Got my bike viewed over by another mech friend.. he noted:

1) bigger brakes for front and rear.. - not stock..

2) popping sound of throttle.. stock exhaust, but prolly hollow..

3) and my personal fave, he said : "WOW! Its a beauty.."

Getting used to the throttling now. It's still a bit sticky.. somewhere around 3/4 of twistin the throttle, there's a slight Jam, but rectified with more effort. is this normal?

no sign of leaks.. tires still got hair, so i don't dare to get low on the bike just yet.

Other than that, its a GREAT feeling. It's worth it.

u really love ur bike to take note of so many things. hehe. i'm having the neutral problem too. but i intend to change to RP EO n hope it settles the problem.

initially i cruise at abt 80 as well. but now.. the vibration n high rev sound doesn't bother me anymore :)

like wad johnnykato said.. i also interested to c ur brake .. hehe

go back to cka-hq n get roy to rectifiy for u.

Oh i found what's the prob.. the bolt which adjusts the free play is loose. actually it dropped, then its interfering with the throtle cable.

I managed to srcrew it in for the moment. if the same problem arises, i'll know what to do.

Day 2: FY **** B

2 people received calls from me this morning. A really gooondu problem..

when moving off in 1st or second gear, engine died suddenly.

I'm not too convinced with the accuracy of the petrol indicator, so i really chose to ignore it. Engine died, so i thought the fuel not entering the carb properly.. switched between reserve, and on.. just to prove a point..

but still problem persists..

Called Driftbaker, and Tarique.. they can't assist to help me fixth the prob.. till tarique gave me abrilliant suggestion, 40 mins after the problem started..

"why don't you leave the engine on for a few mins?"

Unconvinced, that's what I did..

then voila!

8 mins of idle engine running, warmed up my baby sufficiently to let me ride.. but still, i had my doubts.. I didn't wanna be stuck in the middle of CTE, thank god I didn't. Haha..

Lesson learnt.. Warm up the bike before you go off..

My fuel indicator still having probls.. I pumped to full tank just now, but indicator still shows half tank.. mm.. someone help.

As my prev post, the sticky throttle problem went away when i managed to screw in the bolt. then voila! roared back to life.

Then this evening, in a quiet road, i turned off the engine. set the sidestand.. then i got off, accompanies a friend for a while, then he went off.

I started my bike.. got into gear.. then engine died.

"oh ****." It wont move.. blow blow engine, but still same problem.. engage 1st gear, engine died. Same like the problem in the morning..

then i realised the side stand is down..

I set the side stand up, kicked into gear, then i roared off with no problems.

2nd lesson learnt. with the side stand down, you can't engage gear. The engine will die off.

QUERY: Take a look at your left hand side. where you kick the gear.. there's a moving part check to see if the plate attached to the gearbox is cracked. mine is.. popped over to CKA HQ, Roy was busy and so the other mech said that the crack needs to be there, so that the plate can be bolted in securely. True?

Here's a pic attached..

ps: johnny, sms me tmr. my number is up there.

r u talking about the split in the middle where the bolt is mounted??

tat is gearshift lever where it is clamped onto the gearshaft by the bolt.

yes, there is suppose to be a gap so tat it can be clamp onto the shaft.

pls check occasionally for loosess, in case the bolt has loosen itself due to vib.

u should at least read the owner's manual, clik below to download:

http://www.dmc.co.kr/eng/pdf/owner_roadwin.PDF

Yup, that's the one. Since you're having it too, then i take it at face value then. I was just being cautious.. haha..

Like what Roy mentioned to me yesterday..

"What's $25 every 2000kms (refering to oil change) if it manages to save you hundreds in repairs at one go.."

I did read thru the manual.. but there's so much that it can tell us, and so much you can remember.. there's no better teacher than experience.

But the throttle Jam was a good thing.. at least it prevents me from over-revving the engine, and speeding.. :cheeky:

One more thing.. When you pump full, you kinda need to estimate. but.. how would you know when to stop? *when its full, duh!* I mean.. how full is full?

if i wanna top up full and bo chup abt how much i got, i top up till the brim, den shake the bike till some of the petrol goes down by observing some bubbles which makes the petrol go down alittle bit then u can close the fuel cap without any overflow spills inside the tank.. rw has much better response if u warm up the bike before u go..

read owners' manual page 24.

on the page, there is a pic on top right hand shows filler neck.

I tried. petrol was splashing from the pump.. haha. didn't dare to la.. the pic is a side profile. not easy to estimate from the top.. but still half tank? i expected more leh..

let's see.. yesterday, 10+ litres.. today, 7+ litres.. total around 18 litres, minus around 7 litres max for travelling today, and yesterday.. still should be around 10+ litres.. stil dun get it why the needle still show half. should at least more than half. at least more reassuring. haha

i normally reach half tank before i'll fill it up.. heard somewhere that it will help tank from rusting. (kinda stupit.. cos u pump full tank, u end up using more fuel to carry that tank of fuel around..hhaha) but i have the phobia of ending up on expressway and than run out of fuel...

I normally let the bike go on side stand, pump till the fuel touches the base of the inlet( the metal opening). With the incredible fuel price. thats already $13 on 95. damm... half tank=$13, FULL TANK=26... * pump half tank to soften the blow...* hahah
