it's called 'quick release throttle pops', whereby ur quick release coz some unburnt fuel to muffler n burn in it.

tighten the pilot(air)-screw by 1/8 turn, if still pop again, tighten another 1/8 turn.

note: pilot(air)-screw is the upside-down screw, u can see it at the front of the carb (near the engine side).

stock jet-needle clip is in slot#2, pilot(air)-screw is set at 2 1/8 turns.

if u had change the jet-needle clip to slot#3, set pilot(air)-screw at 2 1/2 turns.

if u had change the jet-needle clip to slot#4, set pilot(air)-screw at 2 1/4 or 2 3/8 turns.

popping will be reduced.

to prevent hand going numb is not to put ur body weight on it.

lower ur elbow n hold the handle like pushing a supermarket trolley cart.

support ur body using ur abs muscle.

try le. but still not to my liking. i prefer smoother riding feeling. :thumb:

Might be a backfire in your exhast.

when carb is set too rich, at constant throttle, unburnt excessive fuel accumulate at muffler n burn which will pops is called 'backfire'.

in his case, when he is doing full throttle release n it pops.

this is becoz the sudden closure of throttle valve shut off the air supply,

fuel is being suck into the engine then expire thru unburnt due to lack of air.

fuel accumulated at the muffler will eventually burn when there is sufficient air n heat,

tat's where n when it pops.

will idling rpm affect moving off?

my idling rpm is slightly below 1.5k (was 1.5k before eo change :/ )

now when i just on my bike ( from cold ) and turn the trottle the engine will die.

and i suspect i dropped something into my tank :/!

set idle speed to 1.5k rpm when engine is hot.

idle speed should be 1.4~1.6k rpm (hot) as stated in owner's manual.

idle speed will eventually drop down due to dust accumulated in the air filter thus reduction in air flow.

oem air filter should be replace every 20k km or was it 25k km?

KNN air filter to be clean n oil every 50k km, limited to 5 times n replace.

throt to 2k rpm to warm up for one minute so tat engine wun die when idle.

dun think its the air filter.

cause my bike's only 3k+ km now

when the bike is hot the idle rpm is 1.5k

its only at the start that its lower than 1.5k

so warming up is the key uh?

Posted

warming up is important for every engine.

the key is to find a balance mix of fuel n air meter by the carburetor.

if ur engine kept die off when cold idle, u can try loosen the pilot-screw by 1/4 turn.

carburetor control by metering fuel/air into the engine.

1) pilot-screw, low-jet n idle-screw - idle~1/4 throttle position.

2) jet-needle, throttle valve - 1/4~3/4 throttle position.

3) main-jet - 3/4~full throttle position.

air density, u find night riding has more power than daytime ride.

mine also like that... the engine need to be hot then i can start easily and wont die off during idle... but now slightly better after i re thread the spark plug hole... last time my spark plug hole got some leak... and the situation is worse...
