Hey everyone,

i have something that i need to seek consultation on. This few days, i noticed that there is a rattling sound coming from my engine when i was riding. It sounded like the rattling sound from the chain but i highly doubt so. Most probably its from the engine. so i wanna ask is there a problem somewhere or is it that i am simply paranoid.

i had plastic rattling sound b4, it's actually from the headlight bracket n the plastic headlight case.

solution is place a washer btwn the headlight bracket n case.

if u r very sure rattling sound from the engine then visit cka for repair.

problem can be several causes:

1) cam chain tensioner.

2) cam chain.

3) starting clutch gear.

4) valve tappet clearance.

5) drive chain or front sprocket.

let cka mech diagnose.

i missed out another....if it is metal rattling sound.

tat means the exhaust header inner sleeve cracked.

pulsing exhaust gas makes the metal knocking sound.

solutions:

replace header n install two header gaskets instead of one.

or

use a small grind wheel remove out some inner sleeve to have a large gap so no knocking sound.

or

install the stainless steel(SS) header instead of oem.

make sure to weld both ends with three quarter inch hole washer.

SS header with bigger inner diameter will coz loss of power at low rpm.

also use two header gaskets instead of one, need to retune carb richer.

or

install ixil exhaust system.

ps:

header gasket means the gasket btwn engine n header.

apply thread lock (loctite) on header studs n nuts.

after a few days ride, re-tighten header nuts n dun forget to apply thread lock.

well, it's hard to say whether is safe or not.

as mechanical or electrical or electronics when it goes it's gone.

as long as it runs.......it's fine.

will it last a couple of weeks or a month? no one can tell.

just like riding safe but others on the road r not.

ride defensive is much better, many times vehicles cut into my paths without warnings.

last time, a car sudden brake cause my bike handle to knock onto his boot.

claimed on my insurance was $5,000 but end result was my insurance paid him $3,000.

renew insurance without ncb, up another $50.

maintenance is the same, as long as there is a problem, resolve it immediately. dun wait.

delay may cause much more problems or an accident/incident waiting to happen.

Guys, I have Roadwin X5 , currently planning to change tires for my bike.

Need your guys help to decide on the tyre. Currently I have the stock 140-60(swallow) for rear and planning to change the rear alone. Please let me know what tyre should I go for ? CKA or elsewhere ? CKA was having 130-70 (Dunlop) approx 160$ Bridgestone 150-70 approx 190$.

Is it ok to try another spec other than the current 140-60(swallow)? because the front tyre is still the stock one.

expecting the tire to last another two three years as I commute almost 25KMS everyday.

Need your advise bros !!!

it is best practice to use the same brand for front n rear tires.

u can shop around for best price from other shops, cka as like any agents will charge 10~20% more.

i recommend use bridgestone 039 or 045 tires becoz of dual compound construction.

the middle portion is harder rubber tat is more durable n the side is soft rubber good for traction when cornering.

u dun have to buy top end tires which r more expensive due to their high spec, eg. speed n load ratings.

google search for tire ratings n u know their ratings for.

thanks for the advise bro, just had my tire changed, I went with Duro 140-70 just to try a new brand. Bridgestone was quite costly and since the bike is just 150CC, i don't expect much performance out of the tyre. Hoping the tyre to last a couple of year and will upgrade to 2A by then. hopefully :) . thanks again.

Bro since the bike has already done 96000+ , I advice you to either change the bike or even better upgrade to 2A. Being a 150CC, I dont think its a good idea to invest anymore on this bike having had run so much.

hey guys, have you guys experienced something like when u start the bike, the bike jus flew/jerk forward off its side stand? then when u check the gear level, it's not on the first gear but on the fifth gear? Can it possibly be a mechanic fault or that someone pulled a idiotic prank on me?

Do not judge the bike by it looks only bro. Most important is the interior parts e.g engine and etc

Thanks

Hi all, may I know what's the difference between RW125 & RW150?

Exterior? Interior(except the engine)?

I'm given the option to choose between them but have no idea regarding this bike.

Please help! Thanks. :)

hi guys, just wanted to say that this thread has been a great resource for me over the past two years. thank you stsoh and all the other forum members for all the well researched information and advice that you have all dispensed here.

i bought my roadwin second hand in 2009 and it has been a great experience riding and owning one so far. i'm actually thinking of selling it because i recently bought a car. hence (as you can probably tell) i'm trying to reach the minimum number of posts required before i can post an ad on the used bike sales section.

that said, i just renewed my road tax and insurance so i'll probably only sell a few months later. in the meantime, i'll continue to ride my roadwin on the weekends and decide if it makes sense for me to own two vehicles. i really do like the roadwin's look! :)
