Really? I dun doubt you, but Honda Japan themselves shouldn't put it wrongly...?

46PS is NOT equal to 46BHP. 'PS' and 'BHP' are different units.

if by bhp, then the 500 is 46bhp and the 400 is 40bhp thereabout.

I believe bhp and PS is very similar. Its like there is only 1 extra PS per 50bhp.

For instance, super revo depending in which article u access, its either 52 bhp or 53ps.

Honda Fit 1.3 similar reflects 98bhp or 100ps. ( Though I have seen articles indicating 100bhp....typo? )

But I guess its negligible. However, the significant unit of measurement is KW.

From KW to bhp/ps = roughly multiply by 1.33.

I think this 400X is made in Jap and 500X is made in Thailand..

I was looking at the KW34 to HP is around 45.2?

1.33 was based on my own reversed calculation years ago, I just googled and the conversion is

1 kilowatt =1.34102209 hp

so 34 x 1.341 = 45.59 hp

come to think of it, 45hp used to be the power for 250cc 2 cyclinder strokers after power cut due to Japanese laws for these machines. Pity I have never tried 1 before. Today we 400cc 4 stroke 2 cyclinder doing very similar power. But so much heavier. Based on Honda's site, its like 192-194kg. RGV250, TZR 250, NSR 250 was like 150-160kg?

wah, ok wait a minute...

500x is 196kg

400x is 192kg

then the 4kg will it affect the power and torque on the road?

price also not much difference between RON95 and RON 98 right?

Unless we can only get RON95 or less fuel, then the ECU would retard the advance mah

Again for EU regulation (besides 35kW) there is another clause for A2 which is 175kg.

Indeed regulation will change the market and manufacturing direction. In car industry the EU CO2 requirement resulted more turbo in Europe.

Since EU not regulate torque maybe some research in future for mini-turbo for bikes to increase torque given the restriction on 35kW.

converting kW to hp is one thing, but for bhp, the power is measured at the back wheel, which is lower than plain hp figures measured at the engine's crank.

but all this meaningless, all that matters is if you're comparing across different models, make sure its the same unit, and that PS/hp is not the same as bhp. no point arguing just one bike its kW/PS/hp/bhp figures.

agree that hp/bhp/ps is similar and numerical diff is academic. But kw....diff is like 1 third. Most bike & car mags usually post crank figures from observation. So just less 12-15% for at the rear wheel.

I noticed at pumps 92 to 95 = + 4 cts. But 95-98 = +18cts. I suppose for 12-18 litres, not too bad....but for cars.......can feel the power in both sense..

Though no engineer, I doubt 4kg xtra will cancel out the benefits of 6nm more torque.

but 400 already feel abit power cut. Then if use

I guess if I bout his bike, I will use 98 ron. After rear tyre botak change to 140/70.

I guess at the end of the day, someone needs to test-ride it and compare it with personal experience to a Super 4 and see what the actual difference is. Any 400X available for test rides yet?

Which is about right lor, 46PS is around 46hp, with 15% reduction for back wheel is around 40bhp. The numbers do work out.

Actually I think anybody wanting to buy the 400x or any of the 400 series should not bother comparing super4. The super4 confirm more powerful. Buy the 400 series because you want a parallel twin with its pros and cons, or buy the 400x because its the first and only adventure style 2a bike.

I finally saw a 400x on the road, I think its 400 not 500. Too small to look like a real adventure bike, but you wont mistake it for a 2b. Looks nice for what it is.
