Hey bro, managed to visit speedway motors and talked to Jacklyn. The price is ard S$15k region OTR. Price excludes bracket for box, main stand and crashbar. Are you quoted with the same price when you purchased your CB400X? and did you install box for your CB400X from Speedway too?

On a side note, does anyone here knows where should I get:

1. Trax top box

2. Givi top box

3. Hepco & Decker boxes ( Gobi and Explorer) -> but i heard water can seep into Explorer? can anyone confirm it.

I'm quite attracted by the package offered by Speedway. Still havent visit Dynasty yet, unsure if Dynasty will offer the similar package as Speedway.

Thanks alot guys.

Bro, as shared by another biker, BS is bring in 2014. Why not wait to see what BS/AD price is like before committing as when AD don't/haven bring, sometimes PI takes the chance to capitalize.

Hi @infektivium,

Let me try to answer this questions. There are two Dynasty motors in Singapore one at Tampines and one at Bukit Batok.

Bukit Batok @ 50 Bukit Batok Street 23, Midview Building #01-24, S(659578) - 6686 0803

Tampines @ No. 9, Tampines Ave 2 (inside Shell station) S(529731) - 6784 1189

1) The 500x is able to install mainstand most probably 400X can too.

2) Best is to use full synthetic, why use semi-syn when there's full syn. Motul is good, shouldn't be a problem.

3) I think danielb is doing a hard run-in so it's all settled at racewerks or if you want the old ways, should be 500km or 300 miles.

:D

@thechosenx alright man, i will just stick to motul syn eo then during run in period once i get my hands on cb400x. thanks for the info bro!

Boon Siew, Authorized Dealer.

eg, imo, GSR400, Vstrom 650 so overpriced due to this exact reason. My opinion.

Think theres no harm awaiting BS. With more competition consumers usually benefit. Of course there could be upsets. Eg, AD decides to sell at 18k & the all the PIs follow suit. However what are the odds? I would think ADs also usually have to work within RRP from the manufacturers.

You asked a good question, to know if the price is correct, consumer must know the OMV of the vehicle which seem so difficult to obtain for bikes.

Using Yamaha HL $ as a bench mark, I noted that if using US magazine, SG OTR less insur, just take the printed price in the mag x 2.5. If its UK magazine, x 3 the price. In part its due to the 27% tax by our ah gong + 1.6-1.8 coe.

If no choice, then LL. But since 2014 is so near, why not wait? Esp since already have 2B license/bike and can afford to play waiting. Most of the time, more competition = more benefit to the consumer.

Btw, for those who bought one of these 400 series, able to share what is the indicated OMV value on your copy of your COE?

1997 TZR 125 - 1998 FZ 150 - 1999 GSXR 400K - 1999 RX 100 - 2000 LC 125 - 2001 TZR 125 - 2002 CB 400 Ver S - 2006 CBR 929 - 2006 GETZ 1.4 - 2009 STEED 400 - 2016 ???

Thanks Daniel.

OMV $7835

Tax 27% $2115.45 ( Total Fixed cost = $9950 ) ( Machine Price less $9950 = Bike Shop profit )

COE $1800

OTR excl Insurance = $15000?

If so Bike Shop immediate profit = 15000-7835-1800-2115 = $3250.

Bike Shop Profit % = 3250/7835 = approx. 41.4%

Total Gov tax = 2115 + 1800 = $3915

Effective Gov tax % = 3915/7835 = 49.9%

OMV seems accurate. as Japan site indicates the 400X as 679,350 Yen. Current conversion is 1 SGD to 79.4 Yen.

So 679350/79.4 = $8556. This figure seems higher than ur OMV but bear in mind the Japan price should incl the Japan Tax. So less their tax ur OMV should be pretty accurate.

So this is an example of why bikes so expensive in SG compared to the Recommended Retail Price (RRP) we see in US/UK magazines.

Some light has been cast on whos responsible....bear in mind that the RRP of $8556 in Japan already includes Honda dealer's profit. Its not cost price. So for this model, 15000/7835, SG bikers pay about 90% more compared to other bikers in other countries.

No offence to 400X owners. This probably applies to other models too to varying degrees.

after translating several jap reviews, the following info is confirmed:

1. bike is made in japan, assembled in kunamoto factory.

2. 46hp

3. 400cc was designed FIRST before 500cc. this was done specifically to address the sleeved down issue. honda's tactic is to design what they call "best for country".

4.reading the 500cc reviews, the hp is almost the same as the 400cc at 47hp (looks like we won't see 500cc in sg)

can read this article for more info:

been riding so far, suit me. ride is smooth, pwr kicks in at a lower rpm compared to ninja 300 and duke 390. if you like to twist throttle and enjoy wind blast, choose the other 2 bike. i not youngster anymore bui tahan twist throttle hard and being blown around on naked or light bike.

Alanli : Will take a look tmr. Assuming correct, feels a lot better. At least more justifiable. 400cc made in japan, 470cc, made in Thai. Also made for Jap 1st then Euro. Principle of the matter for me I guess. Cant tahan the feel, just likea 1hr 40 min movie.....but for SG, censor here & there become 1 hr 25min. Leaves a bitter taste. Power kicks in early as in smoothens from 4000rpm?

Daniel : If I can safely get 27/litre, hapy liao. My car doing 9/litre :(

CB150x : no surprise since there are bikes like the 125cc Varadero.

But I do hope SG will get the CBR300 nonetheless. Will defn sell better in SG.

hi bro, info is correct. my experience is smooth pwr delivery at all rpm, extra kick after 7rpm. if u wanna launch bike, hold above 4rpm can already.

my fc is ard 20km.

hope you join the 'gang'. i wld say this bike is for matured riders. looks grown up, feels grown up. stable wif decent power. looks and sound is not bad. go for it! :) let us know what you think.

Thanks Alan. Car Coe ending early 2016. Hence, getting familiarised with the bike scene in SG again.

My Version S did 20/litre and so did my Steed 400. Same goes for my TZR 125 stroker. (something wrong with my right hand, haha..)

Ur description sounds a lot like the KTM 375cc described in the local magazine. Smooth throughout, best between 4-7k rpm with a rush >7k rpm to the max power at 9.5k rpm.

@Baal, overall it is very rideable, weirdly smooth and linear.

Maybe not as linear as a 700X but smooth.

Thanks Daniel. If I do get 1 from this series, will be the 400R. Just like Alan, don't think I can tahan the windblast like I did during my 20s. 2016 I will be a uncle at 40yrs liao...lol. How time flies.

Windblast? Eh... Liddat 400r may cause backaches lei...

But i agree. We must find a bike we are comfortable in. Windblast issue. If u are not 6ft tall can ask motorshop to add in the high windshield. Loads of difference

from reviews, most of them indicate the R's fairing is largely for show in the sense that the handle bar/clip on's height is almost the same as a standard roadbike.

Far cry from the 400rr fireblade and the likes.

hi baal, looks like we're ard the same vintage. sry to kpo but consider selling your car now and tahan. coe bumper crop in 2014.

duke390 is a different ball game. it's very light, great for city, s**t for expressway. the bike is not smooth. it's a nice package on its own but totally different bike from honda. it's a single so the pros and cons of it. i would say it is a rough ride. build quality is also not as gd. it looks rough and unfinished. and since you are particular, this bike is made in india bro. this bike is more for youngsters. nothing wrong with this bike but very different proposition to the honda.

i don't think the fairing is fake. fairing is to make the bike cut thru wind, so the bike won't have the hit from all sides feeling. it does help with wind blast but for me the key is a windscreen. on a duke390, no where to put windscreen. so whatever bike model, fairing or not, as long as you can put windscreen (tall one if you really kuniang haha), prob solved.

ninja 300 is also ok for windblast and i think a better comparison. ninja300 lean forward more so the wind will go over your head, in theory la, wherelse the honda seating is more upright so u'll get hit in the front. at high spd, can feel the impact. downside of ninja is must lean forward, not comfortable. haha. there are other things i don't really like about the ninja300 but better you check it out yourself. but one thing i can say which is not controversial is that ninja300 cockpit is not fully digital, honda one is which i feel gives it a more premium feel.

do check out the bikes because the characters are quite different. i would say the looks of these bikes are a fair representation of the bike's character. duke390 is more bad boy, ninja300 is boy racer and honda is more matured.

Thanks Alan. That's what I tot also reg the car COE in 2014. "they" are probably going to bring down prices slowly in view of the impending 2016. Yah la, didn't mean fairing is fake but more in terms of fairing bike = weight on the wrist, back ache, hip ache due to high foot rest ...etc. But yes, even my skinny TZR 125 with the fairing felt less wind blast compared to my super 4.

1997 TZR 125 - 1998 FZ 150 - 1999 GSXR 400K - 1999 RX 100 - 2000 LC 125 - 2001 TZR 125 - 2002 CB 400 Ver S - 2006 CBR 929 - 2006 GETZ 1.4 - 2009 STEED 400 - 2016 ???

i'm riding a R version now, my height is about 180, i would say that the riding posture of this bike is very upright, just like any other road bikes, thus the backache worries are unfounded.

foot rest is like normal like also, in fact due to my height, its more comfortable on a 400R as compared to a S4.

wrist wise, only slightly more weight on the handle, not too much of a difference.

for me, i changed my gears around 4-5k rpm, cruising around the same also lols, thats the comfort zone i feel on the bike with me (dinosaur sized).

to hear the engine roar, will be around 5.5 - 7.5k, haven found any need to go above this RPM, just slightly pull on the throttle and it will bring me to 120-150 readily and easily. (150 coz my balls only reach this size, bike can go somemore)

what would be preferred is if the windscreen can be changed to a taller type for the R model, it's pathetically short for the stock. but so far puig has for 500R (not sure same or not), ZG not even 500R
