Don't have the facilities but intending to get the basic tools, just not sure what the basic tool kit consists of :p.

My plan is to :

1ST>Knowing every part of the bike, in and out so that i can maintain it properly .

2ND>Repairing the bike, changing parts .

3RD> Modifications of bike .

Was wondering about mechanics in certain shops, heard that some tend to screw up even on maintainance and repair.

So how would a person learning by himself fair? :/ Really very curious.

So slow, yet so fast.

Hi, Some tools for your bike use

1: 1 full set of bolt Ratchet Spanner (8mm - 40mm)

2: 2-3 pcs different size adjustable spanner

3: Few Screw driver ( from long to short )

4: Allan keys

5: Star Keys

6: Some m6 - m10 allan key bolt & nut as spares

7: Battery handdrill 18v should be enough( best is those adjustable impact type for gasket & rims )

8: Tools (wirecutter , cable lugs , fuse etc ) & spare wires for electrical modification ( like installing extra components onto bike eg(voltmeter)

9: Normal handdrill ( for drill hole & when hands are tired )

I have all the above items . In fact i can strip the whole bike except the engine.

Make sure to be responsible when doing it at the carpark. Go to highest floor/bring newspaper/cardboard to cover the ground. Dont be an a-hole!

Ya. Start with servicing. But please mind where u dump your used oil. There are designated ways to dispose them.. Do up some reading. Or you can look up Eric the car guy vids on YouTube. Although it deals with cars but the 4 stroke internal combustion engine works on the same principle. Main difference is there are more auxiliaries on a car engine than a bike one.

Ride fast..ride safe..don't crash...

Yea, most times when you go to the car/mcycle shops, they will collect and sell for recycling etc, as noted by dawnrome. Also, yep, don't just go there and dump. Ask the shop guys, rather unlikely they'll say no.

And as what the rest have mentioned, get a bike manual, you may be able to find it FOC online. Youtube for anything else. Additionally, diff kinds of bikes will require diff knowledge/tools. A scooter / old-school mechanical-only / electronic-laden machine will have diff procedures.

Check ITE website, they have motorcycle repair course, part time. The course will cover everything for motorcycle from electrical to engine overhaul.

If you are bold enough, just get the service manual for your bike (can download for free) follow the step by step instruction and start wrenching.
