your meter should be more accurate than your friend.

his might have been tempered with by his mechanic.

all mechanical speedometer have error of >+10%.

the higher the speed the more error as much as +20%.

electronic digital/sensor is more accurate with error of >+5%.

try getting someone bike with digital speedometer to ride with u n recheck.

if not get another rider, i believe your speedometer is OK.

basic maintenance is necessary like:

1) top up 2T engine oil.

2) lub chain very 1,000km.

3) change gearbox/clutch oil every 3 months.

4) change spark plug every 8,000~10,000km.

5) change air-filter if your is not cleanable every 20,000km.

btw, speedometer actually not tat accurate. unless u find tat Tp camera, but oso not 100% accuratre. mayb u wan try wif some1 wif digital speedometer? but not wif a bigger CC bike pls, if not u will b more dissapointed.

TP camera is most accurate la..Why you may ask? Because if it clocked you breakin the speed limit and your speedo shows you were in the range of the speed limit you will still kena..Ahaha..:cheeky:

I have tried to see things from your point of view..But no matter how hard I try..Or what I do..I just can't get my head that far up my butt..

hmm..

i believe sp can easily hit meterspeed of 140+ 150..

So i assume ur meter is not accurate comparing to normal nsr Sp..

1st: ask ur mechanic check for the front rim speedo gear. the wan tat ur speedo cable tat link to.. either ur cable loose or the gear inside worn-out may cause tis problem...

2nd: if not... hmm.. check on ur speedometer console..

the above method should able to solve ur problem..

but dun rely on the speed tat it gives u even its correct speed comparing the other Sp.. cause on smaller cc bike meter is not accurate at all... plus minus 20km/p

I think he is just comparing his sp meter to another sp meter which i find tats nothing wrong wat...

Btw i think you got it wrong/opposite!

A smaller cc bike meter should be showing you more speed then the actual speed u were riding...

etc: passing by a highway limit 90 speed camera on meterspeed 115km/h

tats wat i always do... :cheeky:

all vehicles speedo readings are about 7 - 10% optimistic. Meaning when it shows 110kph, you are actually slower, maybe 100kph. Technically, speedo readings from two bikes of same brand and model should be the same, unless something has been modified, such as tyre size different from stock.

one good way of knowing your actual speed is to use a GPS on a flat road. A cheaper option is installed a bicycle digital speedo (less than $55), as a secondary meter , and with the input of the correct rolling circumference of the front wheel, it will give you a very accurate speed.

then its almost confirm that your speedo is underestimating the real speed of your bike. i cant give any advice on what to do for now though, other than slow down on speed camera area :D

You can pay a small fees to Singapore Traffic Police to have them to check the speed of you bike using a high tech radar gun:-

- Find a speed camera hot spot.

- Ride past the spot and confirm there is a Police officer holding a radar gun.

- Ride past the spot again, if the speed limit is 70km/h, maintain your speed at 90km/h meter reading.

- Done.

Singapore Traffic Police will send a certificate to you indicating the actual speed of you bike in less than a week time. Compare the speed captured by the TP and the speed you maintained the other day (i.e. 90km/h) and you will know your speedometer error.

Don't forget to pay the fees of the speed check.

how about comparing to car meter? once i was riding 80-90 my friend behind driving car told me he reaching 100 le still cannot closed my any dist... keep gaping

Well sad to say, car speedos are not accurate as well. I'm not sure for Hyundai, but like bigger Jap bikes, Jap cars have the same percentage of error.

I read 100km/h off my speedo, but it is only 93~95km/h off my GPS if I'm not wrong. Exactly the same for the new Honda Civics, I presume the same for all jap manufacturers. My bike is a Yamaha by the way. A Mitsubishi Evo 8 reads 265km/h on its speedo and ~253 on the speed trap.

i went to a bike shop n ask.. the mechanic said some meters are "heavy" some r "light" so the way of the meter pointer going up will be slower if heavy... he said theres nth he could do bout it.. n about the speed stucking at 120+ he told me is engine prob -.- thinking find 1 day go jb check... my friend told me there will be more accurate one tell u the faults...

How do the car speedo work?

if i am not wrong they calculate by the crankshaft.

and if ppl change their rim size as in bigger rim or tyre size do u think tat the crankshaft able to calculate tat? the answer is no!

For cars, when you change to a bigger rim, you match it with a lower profile tyres so that the wheel rolling circumference is maintained as much as possible.

Even wif a little diameter change will highly change ur highspeed...

As the speed goes higher the off set turn more then wat we can imagine...

Unless the over diameter maintain compare to the stock diameter...
