[Group] Suzuki SV 400/650/1000

Hi Guys,

 

I think my bike’s fuel consumption is on high side, from fully full tank to hit reserve (blinking yellow light), it click 230Km. you guys mind sharing your bike’s fuel consumption? And if my bike is eating more fuel, what’s the suggestion?

My bikes runs on 100KM/h on 4.5K RPM.

Last time mean my previous bike...Now become my bro's bike still 26km/l.....Ask him if u dont believe....One of the best tuned SV in here..

ami, did u change ur sprocket sizes?

 

Mine used to hit 29~30km/l, until i changed my sprocks to AFAM n chain upsized to DID 525 x-ring. Now reduced to 27~28km/l

so minimum you can hit before reserve light goes on is 350km? (27 * 13) . The best I can hit was slightly over 300km, which works out to about 23km/l.

i was just kidding about "too good to believe", anyways can suggest where to service? or where to tune the settings?

waaa Bro.... great ... where guy guysgo to service..... mine FC is very bad as copair to you guys..., by the way i never change the chain or sprocket. i got it as it is from previous owner...

your chains and sprockets should be stock. 100km/h at 4.5k rpm sounds ok.

 

you might be running rich. Suggest you go for tuning, maybe check your fuel jet sizes. Mechanics have been known to put wrong ones into SVs

Where can I buy the stock fuel jet? Any shop to suggest for tuning?

 

And I just get tuned my carburetor last week. But I never check the FC before carb tuning so I don’t know it is due to carb tuning or its fuel jet.

Yup somewhere around 340km will see reserve light..

My rpm around 5.5k when i hit 100kmh.

I still have another front AFAM sprocket that is 1 teeth lesser than the stock one. When i used that sprocket, 5k rpm hit 100kmh, but the pickup from 0 was not so nice

Are we all talking about the same capacity? My SV650 is about 19km/ltr (which I think is bad)

Front Sprock: 16

Rear Sprock: 45

4.5K RPM @ 100km/hrs

 

Thinking of installing a A/F gauge... really wanna know what's the A/F ratio while on the go... from K&N

Cannot understand why people so interested in the Voltage gauge which is of little use... The A/F Gauge should be an essential gauge...

I get abt 20 km/l or abt 260 km till lights start blinking. Can pump abt 13.5 l though.

 

Tuning wise, many ppl say Looi's Motor's Meng Tong is good. Queues are long though. I go to HKL's Ah Xiang. Mebbe you can visit your fav. mech and ask him to wash and tune your carb, plus check your sprockets/chain and tyres for wear and tear + correct size.

 

Incorrectly inflated or leveled off tyres can also affect fuel consumption significantly.

 

If your spark plugs are black, your mixture's rich and mebbe you need to check the fuel mixture screw and choke cable.

 

Lastly, riding style. At a constant 160-200 kph in top gear (tt's abt 8000-9000 rpm), fuel consumption is a whopping 9-11 km/l. Keeping to a relatively high rev. band esp. in stop start traffic, one can easily get a return of ~200-240 km b4 reserve.

Depending on the amount of riding on expressway and city riding, my fuel consumption is between 20 ~ 23 km/litre since I've got my bike new.

since you are the only one who got yours since new, i guess your info is the most reliable for SV650S!

 

Guess no one can comment for SV400S though. Might take out my spark plug to check and see.

Yup mine's a 400.

I wonder if you guys tested different grades of EO's FC before?

From what i experience, different brand n grades of EO affects the FC slightly.
