common mistakes in starting to learn guitar (which i did too) is......

 

learning to play songs immediately.

 

Thats what most pple do. and as a result they are stuck at a certain level only. You have to learn the theory as well (of coz its the boring stuffs)....things such as the standard tuning, what are the notes on each frets, remember the chords and why is it shaped that way, different techinques of strumming, different guitar techniques (pull-offs, hammer-ons, vibrato, bends, bla bla), which notes goes well with the other

 

more advance will have to learn scaling (not the dentist scaling but guitar scaling coz theres the foundation of all the kick ass solo)....and when ur theory is good....u can even make ur own song and sounds.....:D

Micheal angelo and malmsteem (if thats how u spell them) were my favourites.. havent played since NS days.. dunnoe if i can still remember the chords.. hahah

 

anyway, i see faz got excellent knowledge of guitars.. im fell for that too man.. was impatient to learn the theory, bought the vcd guide but chucked it one corner and eager to create some magic tunes from my first guitar... guess my progress was very slow..

 

CS: when u say nothing at all.. i think that was the first few songs i learn to play..

I think it was basic chords G,D,C,D all the way.. but the solo abit harder to catch with different versions from my frens..

 

Anyone on drums? We can start a NUS Riders musical!! muhakah

yngwie malmsteen plays neo-classical metal kinda musical....meaning he takes beethoven/mozart/bach/chopin songs and makes it metal.....of coz he writes his own music too

 

i heard he practice till his fingers bleed when he was young... thats the determination
