JK and I have been told on a confidential basis the NUS costs for providing the Internal Shuttle bus. Trust us when we say that $30 per student only covers a fraction of it. In any case, it also goes to the library, and you guys use the wireless internet system or the library right?

Bottom line is this: The days of relatively-free education are over. The Universities in Singapore are going to be private by next year, and a whole new paradigm will take hold. Everything will have a fee attached to it. If you're not happy about it, there are alternatives to studying at NUS.

my point is to reiterate the FACT the ISB service is not exactly FOC by principle.

whether i happy or not at NUS is my problem, u dun have to be sarcastic.

Nope, I wasn't being sarcastic. I made that statement as a matter of fact, and I'll tell you why. In my lifetime, I have done many, many things that made people say "What? Are you crazy?". I've walked out on a university degree after two years before, and don't have anything to show for all the work I did in those two years, or the fees that I paid (apart from an income tax deduction). Everyone told me it was stupid, but the decision was made on my values, for my reasons.

All of us have options in life, and the choice is for us to make. The choice is always yours in what you want to do. The only variables affecting that position are your personal values, and what you stand to gain or loose from the decision. What I was telling you is, that you don't have to listen to the advice from anyone else if you want to leave NUS (or not). The decision is totally your own- thus, if you're ok with the situation, then stay, otherwise, quit and don't look back. I don't view any decision as trivial; nor do I view any point of view, however different from my own, as invalid.

Bottom line is: The situation cannot be changed while you are at NUS; the only way to be out of the situation is to not be in NUS. So I say again, without scarcasm. If you find this situaiton unacceptable, there are other options for education, or you may even want to skip the whole tertiary education thing altogether.

thanks for the invitation

arguments aside, i have to respect you for the efforts that u have put in thus far over the past few months. if u have any impression from the previous posts, i did pledged my support for u, as u did something which one of the current members thought of and mentioned to me b4 (setting a motorcycling club in NUS). I thought it wasnt very feasible, though not impossible, and he aborted the idea.

You did it, hence from the bottom of my heart, i think it was pretty great.

Online identities aside, we have met in person b4 and even rode together back from malacca when i joined in Kenny's convoy on the return trip. I was on the yellow v-strom with a pillion and sat beside u during the saefood makan.

wat made me apprehensive abt the club was some reasons which i shall not elaborate, all the best.

o yah! now u tell me i noe...heh paiseh... that was a good trip..ate n ate, and ate n ate...

To each his own..personally i dun want the club to grow so big until we have to establish proper hierachy n stuff..biking is something that shouldn't be so rigid.. The invite to our forum remains open, u dun need to be a paying member or anything lah.. just join to share whatever good ideas you have for the club ;)

hello dude. i remember you too! :) the guy who knew my name when i didn't know his, heh ;p

well, about the club. it's not an easy thing knowing what a bike club should be, should do, and in finding out or making it one thing or another, it's hard to avoid politics (to some degree), maybe. (what i meant was, everyone comes in having some idea [ok, some have no idea, but is that better?] of what things they want, or what things should be, and we've got to sort something out of all that, and that's pretty messy. and it can't be helped...? but we try? :x gee...).

anyway, i also think however that you might find like-minded people in this community, and like jk said, perhaps you could come along in, just as part of the wider NUS bikers community, without the club bit. there're some really cool folks i've met here. :) i know it's just another community like sbf or anywhere else, but we've got quite a lot of stuff in common being all students at nus. i think you'll like (some bits) of it. :) there're quite some other people in the forum who aren't so much for the idea of a legit/organised club, as for just a loose gathering of bikers too.

hmm well, thanks for the well-wishing, :)

and hope to see you around more!

Having said that, I'm interested as to why you think its not a good idea to join the club. Perhaps you could PM JK and give him the reason; I believe the club could use a bit of constructive criticism. We may be able to learn something or gain a new awareness.

Oh, if the reason is , I'll probably be leaving soon, so that should not be that big an issue.

Not if, its more when.

I've given informal notice, but the Institute wants me to stay until the Director comes back.

If you can't convince the Vice Dean of Science I can recommend you a few other riding staff, but they'll be figureheads; which is probably a good thing, no more advisor to get in your hair.

don't worry, you can keep coming back to mess up our hair even if you're not in nus! =D

and, really, all of us come from good intentions, and a little bit of mutual hair-messing is unavoidable. i do appreciate all the good advice, and the effort you've made to get the club started and going, and i'm sure the rest do too. :)
