Changing to a aftermarket hugger is another option. I remembered when my hugger couldn't fit when i 1st installed the 190/55.. Raf and Suix was there too.. there wasn't any allowance so the mech hd to add washers to my hugger.

Yes,VOL.

You are absolutery correct.

Have to add washer to make the stock hugger higher. or just remove the hugger or just get those after market hugger like those carbon fibre ones liao.

I hardly have time to ride my bike. My bike sound will be very rough one (seldom use mah....). Engine sound all can hear. Balancer sound is the highest.

But once I use and go ride with 3rd gear, 4th gear...for about one hour, then the bike will feel smooth one. Response also faster after.

Sound also become a bit smoother.

The morale of the story for ZX10 is....this bike must ride always one. Then only will feel smooth.

Maybe the more this bike is used with rough/wack the bike....it will be more smoother.

Not like those honda. Never ride One/two month also..still smooth engine during the first start up and ride.

But if wack the honda bike....all sound will come one later.

Yeap...to a certain extend looks like it need to be wacked.

By the way, I am very sure you guys aware that this 10R will heat up very fast.

I am currently using Motul inugel expert... (it's a blue liquid) coolant made from Netherlands.

This coolant no need to mix with water. Just pour the whole 3 to 4 botles of coolant into the whole radiator system and it suppose to cool better. But still, I do not see any remarkable cooling effect.

Still same like last time only.

Heard that changing into biger muzzy fan might help. But friend of mine tried it...but not much help too. still same also, liao.

So, I think we neeed to look for something more cooling type of coolant.

Any of you guys tried any other coolant with better result on their zx10R?

Tks, guys.

Currently I am using Q8 fully syntetic oil which suppose to give a more cooling effect but still not much of progress.

Some one told me that this ZX10R is best to use semi syntetic oil.

Is it true? They told me that semi sync will give smoother gear change and more cooling and more softer sound.

Any one experience this?

Tks

note: since this tread suppose to discuss technical issue...so I ask technical question lor.

Any way ..really need your info and advice. Our hot weather need a better coolant i think.

Hmm . . . . when it comes to coolant, most of us will think of either Redline's water wetter or Engine Ice.

I'm currently running on water wetter and I noticed that my bike runs cooler (about 4 degree Celcius lower during highway cruising).

In traffic jams, it does take a longer time to for the radiator fan to kick in (97 degree Celcus). BTW I'm running on Muzzy fan as well and this combination works real well for me.

You will be surprised how heavy our stock radiator fan weights as compared to the aluminium one by Muzzy. It brings the temp down quicker than the stock plastic one.

I have a couple of friends running on OEM Mercedes Benz coolant (available at hardware shops). It is about $15 per bottle for 1 litre. It is a non-premixed coolant so you got to do the chemistry. Feedback from them have been very positive. Guess I will give that a go on my next flush.

Choice for engine oil would depend solely on the type of usage, budget and running conditions.

Thus far, I've only heard of BMW (those with Boxer engine configuration) and Harley (beside the V-rod family) to strictly stick to mineral oil. Main reason being the natural of the engine construction.

Rest of the Japanese (Kawasaki should be of no difference) and European inline and V's are recommended to stick to full / semi synthetic oil.

Fully synthetic oil will have more edge over the semi on these points below.

1) Better fuel economy due to more efficient engine operation

2) Provide a heavier, more stable protective oil film for engine bearings and piston rings (reduced the rate of wear).

Fully synthetic oil costs more due to the its content and it is not suitable during breaking in due its low friction coefficient.

I enjoy the feel of "thrashing" my 10 and with the above mentioned advantages in mind, I preferred to run on fully synthetic oil after breaking in.

What about the rest of you guys? Share your views and experiences.

so far am using semi syn for all my bikes and they run quite fine.. change EO every 5000km and start using water wetter...

initially on express way travelling less than 100km/h may cost temp to ups.. but after trying out water wetter.. somehow i can manage to maintain at below 90 degree...

from wat i observe.. water wetter cause the temp to up abit slowly and cools down kinda fast when u run faster.. dats from my experience =)

hope it helps abit..

anyway.. after i ride my twin.. i find it abit hard to ride a zx10r.. cos vtwin cannot anyhow whack.. both juz nid to ride diffferently.. haha...

a little trust.. or even 1/2 clutch the twin runs fast...

but not for 10.. the power kicks in ard 7-8k rpm.. but with the help of tre.. it moves off abit faster for my side...

in a congested road.. i would prefer a twin as its much easier to ride..

but on long highway.. 10 is real good.. esp when u can hear the induction at high rpm.. and not to forget.. the speed up damn fast... (faster den my twin after it passes its "low efficiency zone")

a good bike and mayb in years to come.. i dun mind getting a newer vers... :cheer:

Hi guys,

Tks for your input.

Yeap...on a speed above 100km/hr on street, I can get the temp to 79 to 80 celcius at noon.

If cold night or early morning, at high speed, the temp will be just 72 celcius and at very very high speed at cold night/early moning...can get about 69 celcius.

The real annoyanance is only in traffic jam...the temperature just go to 90 and above. Too much trafick light stoppage (or stop long time) at hot temp at noon, the temp can go to 105. Off course the fan starts to kick in at about 97 celcius. And the temp will fluctuates between 100 to 105.

This is what annoys me.

By the way, how much is the muzzy fan you guys bought? Someone told me to install the bigger fan that used by zx14. They said bigger fan/bigger motor will get better cooling power. Anyone tried this method before?

These fans come as a direct replacement (fan size is identical to the stock one) for your stock one. 12R and 14R stock fans are bigger than those on ours 10R.

There is no provision to accomodate the bigger size fan on our 10R. We got our fans for $100 (inclusive of installation).

We are just replacing the blade of the fan (Muzzy) and not the complete motor. Now we have the same motor with the lighter blade, it will spin faster and thus creating stronger wind force.

The Muzzy fan is lighter, drawing out of heat is somewhat faster and thus cooling down sooner. As for coolen I recommend Engine Ice. I use it on my 12R. Works well. Get a fan switch if you have frequent traffice riding. Before approaching heavy jams switch it on already.

oh.. den ur temp runs great.. :thumb:

i checked with motorworld it seems to let go at ard 100++

u can try ebay or other site.. i guess is ard less den 40 usd exclude S&H

so far the max i got is 103 degree..

or u can mod the fan to come in at ard 90 degree so to make it less hot
