fill a full tank to reduce possibility of tank rust

some will advocate disconnecting the battery to prevent inadvertent discharge. but if you do not have alot of accessories that constantly draw power, its okay to leave it.

disc lock the bike and cover it well. as well as put something on the seat to prevent cats from nesting there.

For me, I will do the following:

1. Remove the battery terminals to avoid draining of the battery.

2. Fill your tank full.

What i plan to do:

1) remove the battery terminals. (Do i have to remove the entire battery from the bike to store at home?)

2)fill the tank full.

To reduce rust, should i spray wd40 over parts like exhaust pipe, etc?

Unless you are staying in places like Sentosa Cove where there is a high exposure to sea water, I doubt one month can do much damage to the exterior especially when your bike is parked in a MSCP.

For the battery, just disconnect the terminal and leave the battery in its place. Would be good to wrap the terminals with a black tape (or cloth) to avoid any possible contact due to movement.

Yea i think passing it to a fren to start your engine once a day is good enough.

Im gonna go on a vacation soon.. and im gonna pass it to my colleague who also ride.. rather than just leave it at the carpark.

Rubbermouse, if you are going to allow your colleague to ride, ensure his name is entered as second rider in the insurance.

I remove the battery whenever I plan to leave the bike idle for a while (> 2 weeks). The battery is then connected to a battery charger to ensure that it is kept optimized during periods of idle. I use the Oxford Maximiser 360T which I got from Motoworld for the job.

Hey everyone, I did not start my bike for almost a month too, and I realise there's like some sort of "oil leak" beneath my bike, below the engine area. But when I asked around, people said its normal that this happens when you dont start your bike for quite some time. Is it true? If not, what could be the possible problem? Btw my bike is a yamaha rxz..

I dont think its normal if the oil is black in color, would advise you get it checked by a mechanic.
