Hi folks

I'm looking for anyone with knowledge and experience on either of these 2 bikes

I commute daily, minimum 45-60 minutes one way, in mixed traffic & highway.

Which is the better choice ?

Thanks for your inputs

I was also considering the Triumph Tiger 800 and F700GS. I've now eliminated the Triumph and will most likely go PML and get the F700GS reason being I think the F700GS might be easier for after sales support and regarding parts, not to mention better resale value. Can't tell u which one performs better, coz i haven't ridden either, but I've went to the bike shop and sat on both bikes and I find the F700GS height and weight easier for me (I'm 1.75m).

thanks itsybitsyspidy

i am also leaning towards the F700. another factor is that the financing from PML is a little better than at Mah.

PML only have one F700 left right now, they expect more mid August.

the only problem at PML is that they no version to test drive which makes it a little tougher to commit the money.

do you have any experience on BMW bikes from before?

I chose the f800gs over the tiger 800xc cos of after market parts. Triumph still not there yet in spore market unless you are willing to go through mah motor or buy online.

BMW bikes are on a another level of comfort and finesse as compared to other bikes. I won't say their are perfect cos no one bike is perfect. They do have their nagging issues and I guess most ppl will be worried about electronics which can be a pain if it goes haywire.

Resale value, dont look at f700. Cus generally it's regarded as a girl's bike, or a sister bike of the bigger brother F800GS. Hence the market for F700GS is very low. Plus F800GS is only a little more than F700GS in pricing, and people would rather go for the "Muscular" brother compared to the "sister".

Nc700 is a good choice. You might want to learn more about them from their bike specific thread.

I agree here - due to the price difference between the two models, most would probably go for the F800 in terms of resale purchase. Then again, the positioning of the F700 is for the entry / recreational bikers and females due to the lower price point and also seat height. F700 has not gotten much love in the online forums also, due to the fact that most enthusiast GSers are all rooting for the F800 instead.

NC700 (670cc) vs F700 (800cc) = big difference. Build quality, specs, torque, HP, price. I'd pick the F800 if $ was not a concern. Might also want to look at the Ducati Hypermotard / Hyperstrada.

I would stay away from Ducati unless you are willing to spend on timing belt maintenance. Not cheappp. Some users find the f700 better for adventure touring cos it's more manageable and better mileage. But ya resale value might be of a concern. Nc700 is epic bike for mileage but I feel after a while some users might get bored cos of its lack of power and torque and you may end up looking for something else.

How bout yamaha tenere? Xt660z but its under powered too. Or vstrom 650 has always get good reviews. The v twin is good.
