Hi bros,

 

Have a question here regarding FJR 2002 model.

This model doesn't come with ABS right? And where can I get it checked for a complete assurance that the bike is good for touring? Had a fren who's bike broke down along NSHW and had to tow it back all the way.

With a bike that age, I doubt any shop can guarantee you it won't break down.

 

Parts that failed over the past 10 yrs that caught me off guard and aint attributed to any maintenance error ...

 

1) Shaft spline seal

2) Coolant pump seal

3) fork oil leak at adjuster cap

4) Charging coil

5) Ignition switch

6) Pick up Coil

7) Rear suspension oil leak

8) Rear wheel bearing

 

As you can see, some are wear and tear stuff. I haven't include those that I replaced as preventive maintenance. So If you have most of these items replaced recently, you should be quite safe.

I bought for $180 wilbers front fork spring...pour 450ml for each fork.....wonder if its ok?

 

I rmb fork is 0.7L per side.

Or alternatively, any other fender of other bikes that can fit 2013 FJR?

I would not say its absolutely necessary but it would be good to have a pair.

 

Foglights with yellow light is best travelling in fog area...

In the service manual it states 5000km or 3000miles. (3125milesx1.6 = 5000km)

I normally replace engine oil every 5000km.

Mine is a 04 model FJR.. evry morning when engine is cold after start up.. the engine sound is not consistent, after a while got this "clock clock sound".. but after i clutch in, the sound is gone... or when engine is warm the sound goes off... I asked bike shop say clutch housing.. that time i only change metal plate and clutch pad..never change clutch housing.... any bros here experience this? and whats the damage of changing a cltuch housing? will this affect my engine is i carry on riding?

Old bike really problem keep coming up for mine....04 model.. FJR1300, ususally my normal riding temperature is 2 bar. But yesterday the temperature bar become 3 bar when normal riding. wonder why is this so.... already flush coolant 5000km ago. last night change my radiator cap as its worn out still the same... anyone encounter this before or have any idea why is this so?

Bro, u can checkout M1 Motoring, Dexing, Speedway (Toh Guan), Excell Motor (Shun Li Indstl, Kaki Bukit). I've surveyed this few shops to get quotation & comparison. Price varies from one shop to another. Look for installment percentage too if u intend to buy with installment. Price would range between 23k-24k.

Me & my fren (4 of us) bought together from Dexing at one go, so we managed to bargain a good deal.

Infact most shop got the bike from Hong Leong (Yamaha Agent). I believe only Loois Motor brings in parallel-import FJR2013, so its not covered under HL warranty.

btw mine is a '03, n its mostly at 3 bars if riding in sg day time with traffic. Sumtimes goes up to 4, when kenna stuck in crappy jams. Only stays at 2 when its night or cruising at around 100-120. Also flushed coolant n changed a busted radiator cap after a thailand trip.

Check out MotoWorld @ Kaki Bukit. They have RS Taichi, Komine, etc... riding attires. Boots from Chong Aik, MotoWorld, Regina....I got my riding attire mostly from MotoWorld.
