Think the most impt thing here is whether u can truly afford the dream bike you are after.

SAy that shiny RCV211-styled 2005 CBR 600 with USD forks and all the latest gadgetry...looks cool, perform damn well.....but

Can u maintain the same standard of living after owning it?

Will you still have spare cash to save every month?

How much u gg to loose on the brand new 600 vs keeping the bike till you finish the installments?

Also, the love for certain kinds of bikes is what is keeping some from changing all this time.

Do u forsee yourself been happy on the RVF for another year on?

Would a brand new 600 make you more siok?

No point converting the RVF into a RCV211 style and souping it up with performance items when all you have eyes for is that 05 CBR or R6 or Kawa 636 etc...and u are cursing the RVF for been what it is not everyday.

Affordability and what you really like.

2 factors is all u need to consider.

ok...here r some factors i m considering...

points to maintain the RVF

-instalment left 1yr+

-its the ONLY proarm n golden inverted fork apart frm VFR(which 600cc dun hv except 05 models)

-insurance is not so expensive

-parts may not be as expensive as 600cc

-road tax oso cheaper

points not to maintain RVF

-its a 7-8 yr old bike(need to spend quite a big amount to re-do the bike)

-not v suitable to go touring with class 2(if the big bikes dun wait):sorry: :cheeky:

-parts mayb as expensive as the 600cc

-not as new as the 600cc

-COE muz re-new liao

-wat abt resale value down the road?

comparing the 600cc

-insurance&road tax more expensive

-parts mayb more ex

-petrol consumption??(can any1 verify on this?)

-more suitable to go touring

-its a newer bike

-re-sale value for the bike is better as its a newer bike

-price may drop bcoz of the 05 models wif inverted fork

-price of 600cc abt 12.5k compared to k1 1000 srad oso the same price but srad will b a older bike(another dilemma..coz if can buy 600 den can buy srad liao)

Wat do u guys tink?worth it to change or to upgrade?hw much is the insurance for the 600cc?

thks guys...

Thanks Shay for sharing yr opinions and views.

As what as RpM has brought up the main factors are insurance and road tax.As parts wise and maintenance, accords to a frend who used to ride an RVF and then an R1,the cost of maintenance of maybe a 600cc could be about the same if not just a bit more than RVF.Both requires about the same maintenance.A bottle more of 4T and maybe slightly more expensive rubbers.Just that RVF has a less yearly depreciation value as compared to 600cc/1000cc which every year comes up with a new model. When i bought my RVF last year,it was parked side by side an FT plated R6 in the shop. When i casually asked bout the price of the R6,it cost $500 less than my FS plated RVF!But like i said, insurance and rd tax cost much more.Don't be mistaken,i do love riding my RVF and some Cl2 bikers that i casually met have also commented on how good the RVF is.

And also considering the fact that S'pore rds are being watched over at almost everywhere by our friendly neighbourhood TPs with their cams,is a Cl2 bike practical for me if i'm not the kind that always tour or go Pasir Gudang,Sepang?

So i conclude that i shall ride my RVF till it is fully paid for(3 more yrs) and i'll see what the market for 600/1000 would be like then. Not to forget my financial situation. If still ex,maybe ride till COE finish(2010):cheeky:

RPM :

i used to ride rvf, currently riding a 600

comparing the 600cc

-insurance&road tax more expensive --> depend on wat model u buy, suzuki insurance will b cheaper by alot compare to other models, depend on how old e bike also (fren bought FR haya, ins $800 2nd party FT), road tax u cant escape lor...

-parts mayb more ex ---> If u own a RVF, i believe u will be used to e price of parts, cos RVF OEM parts r ex too but depending on wat parts u r talkin abt also

-petrol consumption??(can any1 verify on this?) --> fren riding 03 r6(stock) running approx 17km/l, mine too(stock), heard higher mileage also, if u using aftermarket exhaust, consumption will increase

-more suitable to go touring --> For tis, i agree 600 is more suitable for touring, u get e power (overtaking cars) when u nit it.. have use my RVF for touring, its gd !! jus lack of power when u nit it

-its a newer bike --> new in term of plate? have seen Better condition RVF than newer 600, its how e rider take care of e bike but of cos u might wanna try EFI technology, IMO its different from carb, new experience

-re-sale value for the bike is better as its a newer bike -->tis 1 also depend wat model/year u take lor, as wat y2k has say, FT r6 is selling $500 cheaper than his FS rvf

-price may drop bcoz of the 05 models wif inverted fork --> get those with invented fork den, i believe there will b demand for older 600 now or future, cos rise in insurance is killing e bikers!!

-price of 600cc abt 12.5k compared to k1 1000 srad oso the same price but srad will b a older bike(another dilemma..coz if can buy 600 den can

buy srad liao) --> firstly, do u nit a litre bike? will u be overwhacking it or underutilising it? for me, i have problem travelling on SG rd with a 600cc, 70km/h rd, i use 5th gear already over limit > 15km/h lor.. but of cos u can get a litre bike n still travel at legal speed with low rpm...its really up to individual(need/budget), but rem litre bike rd tax is higher than 600cc, tat 1 is gurantee plus chop

Jus some views of mine to share with u
