Hi

I am shopping for a bike while waiting for TP for 2b.

I would like a bike that has torque. Something that can take a heavy pillion and I weighing in total of 160kg and this havent include heavy goods loaded. I am not after speed but grunt.

I had initially thought of 2 stroke bike like a ninja 150 or nsr but how would it react to more than 160kg of laden weight? Would I have to drag gear until the valve kicks in at 7000 for every speed? I understand that a 4 stroke engine could be better due to the even power at lower speed but I do not know enough to decide.

I am not considering scooters and dirt bikes and petrol cost is fine.

However, I am not considering expensive bikes. only stuff like honda yamaha kawa bajaj because I would be selling or getting another after a year and want to minimise loss.

bros, please help.

Hi @ber,

It's hard to advise on this, as you're not considering a lot, anyway I will try to help.

1) Scooters are powerful just turn and go, since petrol cost is fine for you but expensive to buy. Resale value should be quite good depending on the brand

2) 2 Stroke has a butt lot of torque, power, high rpm (so dragging isn't a problem) and run to ride. Only thing most bikes available now with 2 strokes are very old bikes which is problematic for the wallet.

3) I personally think Spark/X1r, Phantom, KTM duke 200 (I think has the most punchy engine) is not a bad choice for your requirements. I can't recommend much as these bikes are small displacement bikes. Maybe others can advice better.

Thanks for your reply, I have rode scooters elsewhere for many years and the pick up is pretty good but not considering it here because it does nothing to help me in my license next time.

Had being considering the TA200 phantom but fishtailing feedback keeps coming up. The thing is that at 160 plus kg like a bit extreme for a small displacement bike but that's all I have to work with unfortunately.

I didn't have the fishtail problem riding the TA200 Phantom (with the round pipe; newer version). I've seen starhub's dispatch using TA200 with their hug box and 2 side boxes and it's doing good.

Get a Spark/X1r then, it's light itself and has good torque.

bro for you to choose, you will go for 2 stroke bike like nsr krr or 4 stroke ta200 or what else if you have heavy pillion and for commutering. stlyish or not doesnt matter.

for me practicality is scooter but next time 2a wont be as good as always practice on a manual. I think what you said nailed it... I should go for a 2 stroker... TA150 nsr 150 krr150

I was advised that I can change the sprocket to a slower on for more torque

for me I am cheap... eventually surely would be a fuel efficient bike.

No scooter, no scram.... Not too many choices in 2b market anyway. You want to pillion and transport heavy goods? Sounds ambitious, kup kia prob can do it all as seen in developing countries but pls ride slowly and safely.

Yes, changing bigger rear sprocket will increase the torque but top speed will suffer. You can get a NSR or KRR for 1.5k easily anywhere. Tahan a year and change to 2A :)

bro thanks for your reply. was hoping not to consider scooters as I have ridden them for quite a few years wanna change to motorbike as I picked up quite a few bad habits on scoots.

Not good for 2-stroker.

initial torque not there, with your total laden weight.

not a very wise choice.

Road hogger @ 50km/h on 4th lane

A bike can go up till 200km/h, can the rider go up till 200km/h o_O

Hi this is what I read somewhere too. Four strokes seems better than 2 at lower rpms but what if the hp is 12 hp for 4 stroke and 34 for 2 stroke? Things gets confusing.

i suggest u dont get those 2b 2 stroke bikes. they are quite old and usually give a lot of problem in the end u will loose a lot of money in fixing them. I saw quite a lot of big size ppl on phantom and pulsar may be you should get those.

I think the best option is just get a cheap 2B bike then upgrade to a 2A since you are so big.

bro, the problem is that I am only 60plus kg. Its my pillion thats big leh. I am also concerned about the servicing cost. Was thinking that if take krr 150 then servicing should be cheap since malaysia got??? ( i dunno.... just guessing)

Vehicle spoil feeling is very bad, for me it bugs me a lot until it gets fixed to my liking and I think about that the entire day.

oh okay didnt read properly. but I dont like 2b bike pillion someone the pick up like snail 1. so far i see those get krr or sp always spoil 1, then the amount they spend to fix might as well get a more ex bike. I heard tiger 200 not bad too.

kr,sp exp to fix?

who says so. just go in to their tread and ask.

I think 160kg on a cub also quite jialat leh.

To ride on the road, You need skills,Stamina, or even luck.

But to be a good rider, you have to change with your environment, and adjust yourself to its rhythm.

Cultivate the confidence to face the different situations. Don't let yourself to be subdued by the environment :thumb:

my budget depends on coe length and also upgrading to 2a eventually but do not want to pay more than 3 k plus if possible... lower even better because it allows me to use the extra to get a cheap scooter maybe.

LOL I think 160 kg the cub dunno how with such thin tires. KR is very sweet and so is phantom.
