hi folks.

where do you find the right size for the M5 or Pilot Road 2? i had lots of difficulty trying to find the right size for my ver S and ended up going with the B39. i am using 110/70/17 and 140/70/17.

thanks for any info you can offer.

You made a gd choice with the BT39. You can consider the Pirelli Diablo HR for your next change. They come in sizes for Version S. You can also check out Unique Motor's Advertiser Board threads for available tyres.

Thanks Fazli. The bt39 was the only one I could find at that time. Will look out for the pirelli next time round.

For Version S its stil ok to use a 150 rear tyre. My previous Version S was running on 160. IRC tire made in Japan.

Or you could go for the Bridgestone BT020/BT021. They're good sport touring tyres for our bike. But the Diablo HR is gd and serves its purpose for HR rated tyres. Especially meant for the Class 2A machines.

Firstly, pardon my quotes so far back.

As I need a long lasting tyres as Im constantly on the road, BT021 was one of the choices that I decided to try, despite reading negative reviews online.

IMO, really not really good.

Despite the long tyre life, its only good on dry, bad in wet.

Constantly maintaining the pressures reccommended, 250kPa front & 290kPa back.

As for cornering, again, dry good, wet bad.

Have to constantly bear in mind to restrict my riding style when in wet..

Just changed to Mich's PR2, to try out, for another year...

Hearsay BT023, which is to supercede BT021, is quite good, but dont know how true.

Maybe nxt year, if situation still permits, I give Bridgestone another chance again...

Anyone has feedback on Metzeler M5?

hey, been riding with m5 on my revo for the last 3 months, its lighter than my last tyre which was bt 021. very good in wet and dry. and no problem in cornering. and if there a hump, u will feel it like its floating due to the 5 compound it have on the tyre. very recommended.

I'm on my second pair of Pirelli's an I think I'm gonna swear my rubbers on Pirelli's from now on. First was Diablo HR and now Diablo Strada. The Stradas are a pure touring tyre. Even deep banking on dry roads prove a problem to me cos of its curve profile. But wear rate, they both perform exceptionally well. But not much choice of tyres from Pirelli for my riding style. Price wise is stil very competitive.

But reviews on M5 seems to be drawing my attention though...

Hmm, well, maybe brand preference.

I was contemplating on which sport-touring tires then when my last Metz was a goner.

I needed something that could last me minimum a year before a replacement is needed, sans any worse case scenario inbetween.

As the 021 was touted a new(then) sport-touring tires to replace the OOP 020, I thought I would give it a try despite reading some negative reviews from other websites.

Though it was really lasting, lasted me 1 whole year, but the wear & tear did show up as what was written.

Of cos, it was lasting then the Metz I had.

The centre starts to square, due to the amount of straights Ive to spend on daily.

And the feeling of "fish-tailing" persists despite that the set of tires has been well scrubbed in, just added in the cons about having it on in the first place.

& so, I finally did away with it & tried the next touted as far better sport-touring tires, PR2.

Well, being reading up on M5 also, seems like its garnering good reviews too..

How many km do you guys cover in a year? I am curious to see how long my tires would last. Anyone?

can, as long as u per week clock 300-400km..

1 mth = (say tk) 400 x 4(wks) = 1600km

1600km x12mths = 19200km..

not amounting another other additional trips here & there yet..

rough gauge... so ya.. that's hw to clock approx 20km per year..

Judging from my current pattern, one month maybe 1000km max only...more likely 600 plus...so one year may 10000km...not counting trips.

True. But now I know don't have to look at new tires for at least a year plus :-)
