i simple cannot understand why must add GST part , reg , IU unit. i can undertsnad must add insurance plus COE, but not the rest....

i must say that GST is included in the machine price already, why must pay double? IU unit and REG, as i heard somewhere from LTA , it should be included in the machines when you purchase. where got vehicle reg with out IU one??

as i am in the auto mobile trade, i think it is wrong. WHy dun they just say machine price x amt. then add import charges, port tax, transportation, inspection, convertion, storage, kopi money. i will check woth LTA again to find out more.

somemore, when i was shopping ard, some cun nt tried to pulled a fast one. bike plus , blah blah tax, reg , coe total. then he times interest rate times no of years. later asked me , how much deposit. then the total payable plus interest minus away deposit divide by no of months......wah paingz like dat also can. then i ask him , the sums wrong liao, he said forgot to add other costs...PIANGZ

can someone pls explain

Audere Est Facere ...... To Dare Is To Do

eh... what explanation you want? you should demand explanation from the bike shop mah. Whatever explanations you are gonna get here are all consumers' assumption. Since the bike shop quote you all those prices, it should be easier for them to explain themselves than for us to explain to you on their behalf, right?

Most reputable shops now doesn't play this trick any longer. This is why you find some shops more "expensive" when you asked the basic qn of "uncle, this one how much ah?"

Most shops will quote you the OTR price based on TPFT insurance (30yrs old). IU may or may not be included as IU is NOT a mandatory item to be install to be on road.

So it always pays to ask more when in doubt. These steps should help:

1. take a blank piece of paper for each shop. write down as you ask, write in front of the one who quoted you so both can see.

2. Details, ask these qns:

i) how much?

ii) OTR price?

iii) what kind of insurance is included? (Third Party, Third Party Fire & Theft or Comprehensive)

iv) i am xx years old, is the insurance price same?

v) Is IU included in your OTR price?

vi) All paperworks charges, admin fees, registration fees, misc fees included in the quoted price?

vii) Finance how many percent interest per year? Is the interest rate flat rate?

Viii) Downpayment amount? (the rest, you have to calculate yourself, don't use what they wrote to calculate. Write yourself, it will be clearer.)

Total cost = $X amount.

Balance = $X - Downpayment amount.

Total interest rate = number of years * x% (eg. 3 yrs x 5% = 15%)

Total payable = Balance amt * total interest rate

Mthly payable = Total payable / (12 x number of yrs)

These should enough to log the bargaining results. Please remember to ask the salesman to sign on it. It mark a simple deal between you two and will help to resolve miscommunications later when you collect vehicles.

Andy

This is extremely good information. Maybe you should sticky this before it gets lost throughout the weeks, months and years.

if u buying 1st hand bike, be careful of transfer fee...

if u buy their existing coe holding on by the bike shop, then u pay for the transfer fee..

if waiting for coe bidding, there isn't transfer fee needed..
