First shipment of "The Beast" is going to be unleashed in SG in estimated 2 weeks time (mid-Jan 2014). Hence, I am starting this thread for any discussions with regards to the bike. Feel free to post any questions or anything you think will be useful for others in this thread. Some topics we can discuss are as below. Hope the other owners will show up here. Thank you.

Demo Bike already registered and available for try outs at Dirtwheel. First shipment of 10 bikes are already here in SG!

Recommended KTM Tyre pressures for Duke 1290 R : 36psi front and 42psi rear

 

These pressures are standard given for most Jap bikes. Quite surprised at how high these are taking into consideration how light the bike is. Think I will try 34/38 for street and 32/32 for track as starters. Depending on feel might go lower on track. Cheers.

Good thing I booked my orange early. Dirtwheel called me up to ask me to change colours. I dropped by, saw the orange and sticked with it.

Read in another forum that there are some KTM dealerships that will remap the bike with the Akra maps even if you don't have the exhaust on the bike. This map offers a more sensitive and direct throttle response and opens up the sports mode even more... Hope Dirtwheel can do the same...

 

If its just a map then there shouldn't be an issue even if the bike runs bad on the Akra maps. We can just remap it back to default...

 

There is also a "race" dongle for sale as Powerpart. This would permanently disable the MTC and ABS if you are feeling "crazy" all the time...and not only on the tracks.. lol... On a more serious note, there seems to be more options to retune and remap the bike with the race dongle... But that is just a "maybe" so far...

 

With 180hp at crank, I think the possibilities of what this bike might be(currently restricted by electronics mainly) is out of our amateur capabilities..but heck, who doesn't want more power?

Feel that the stock license plate holder is a wee bit too long : (
