Just a change in phase I believed.

 

The old mat rockers under your void deckies had moved on. Some became really burly and fat ass that its not 'style' to relak-jack no more.

 

And best of all, Mats are never separated from wheels and music. Either they go riding or they jam. Simple life. No harm intended, no harm done either.

 

Only Mats aren't productive as our other counterparts (no offense bros), cos like I've said, the culture of relak jack is always apparent in us. However, we're slowly evolving and starting to be productive on our own.

 

Talking about Mats on Bikes, well there are tons. But what exactly are you finding? In general, like I've said, you can find Mats on bikes anywhere, same as our beng bros and makkel braders.

 

We are still around, only thing is the old-school of Kamikazes, Saliendran, Monte Carlo, Hell Angels, 7-Eagle-War (do they have roadies? Aint' sure but hey, loved them to pieces) have all ceased.

 

What we have now is an integrated pool of bikers, without racial disintegration as much as last time when I was in school. These days, yeah true, we are differentiated by the name, but roughly, the spirits have grown in unison and yeah, I am proud to be a riding Mat alongside my cheena and indian bros who share the passion I am falling for as days go by on my humble scram.

 

Oh yeah Joe and Dee, my mp3player, is filled with Loudness, DIO, Junction, Rockers (KEKEJAMAN BEB!!), TZ (woodlands boys), and what have you's.

 

Maybe the location has changed, but the essence of it all, will not neccessarily die off cos Rock Neva Die \m/.

Me myself grew up listening to wings, search, motley crue and skid row but slowly evolved to mudhoney, faith no more, janes addiction, james.... u know the underground and indie stufflah!

Oh i met kurt kobain nirvana at the old roxy records, can't remember but must be in 1992 or 1993 that they came to Singapore.

I still have a pic of Fugazi for their first gig at Bukit Batok CC and was bodysurfing at Pearl Jam's concert at the indoor stadium.

I too, started with the likes of Khalid Mobin, Man Kidal (yeah!), Hillary Ang (double yeah! yeah!) and those malay rock era guitar masters. Wings, Search, Lovehunters (Bayek ah!), SYJ (geli tapi ok ah) and clash of the bands era....

 

Then, when I first got my New School Rock juices into my aural senses, never looked back since. Stompin Ground, Swirling Madness, Opposition Party (wooooo!!), Dethmute and all the local heroes. Simply awesome!!

 

Then onwards, started to listen to Beyond, Jacky Cheung, Alan Tam, Yanni, Sharifah Aini, The Swallows, arwah Rafeah Buang and well, almost everything else including 2 Live Crew (yeah!).

 

Eh? I thought we're talking about mat motors? Gua sua cakap, melayu mesti ada motor sama muzik....
