can torres really fit into the liverpool team? large amount of talent he has.. same like bellamy, morientes... has pace.. bellamy, cisse.... good control like morientes, bellamy, crouch..

but look at all of them, either benched or sold off.. hopefully he can be a new revelation lar..

liverpool has a pretty decent goalkeeper.

a solid backline

an outstanding midfield

but lacking in the striking department..

hopefully torres would be the new fowler.. or even an ian rush..

then maybe we can see goal rush..

damn!

I wouldn't really say benched.

Coz Benitez got this rather heavy rotational policy which is a double-edged sword. The good thing is, it keeps some of his strikers hungry (he benched Crouch for 2 games, Crouch comes back on for the 3rd game to score with a spectacular overhead kick against Bolton) and injury-free.

The bad thing is, it may put off some of the "momentum" the strikers may have developed after playing consecutive games.

One more thing Benitez does funnily is that he keeps using strikers in a wrong way. He got it wrong with Crouch initially, using him a tall slow striker as a lone striker. Mid-season, he readjusted the strategy and got it right, making him a target man for high passes & pairing him with a faster striker to assist him.

Last season, Bellamy & Kuyt ends up on the wings instead of centre where they should be. While they dun complain, kinda messes up their scoring chances.

We'll have to see how it works out with Torres. After all, now he finally gets to work with a fellow Spaniard striker.

Let's see if he can use that advantage well.

Gd question.

I was wondering whether was there an exam or certification test I need to take to lay down all these stats before I can become a fan.

As I was saying, stats are stats. Its to know them. But so far I know, only American sports love stats.

West Ham United have confirmed that Liverpool striker Craig Bellamy has agreed terms for his move to Upton Park but denied reports that the deal has been finalised.

Reds boss Rafael Benitez had claimed that a deal for the Wales captain’s transfer had been agreed following his side’s 3-2 friendly victory over Wrexham on Saturday.

But the Hammers have issued a statement saying the £7.5million move cannot go through until the a 27-year-old sorts out a “private contractual issue” with the Anfield club.

They also confirmed Bellamy has passed a medical at Upton Park.

GERARD BACKING REDS OWNERS

The statement, on the club’s official website, http://www.whufc.com:, said: “Following comments attributed to Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez today, West Ham United would like to make it clear that Craig Bellamy has not yet completed a move to Upton Park.

“The deal has been delayed due to a private contractual issue between Craig Bellamy and Liverpool, which must be resolved before any transfer can be completed.

“The player is due to meet with Liverpool on Monday morning, and we expect to complete the transfer soon after.”

Bellamy, who looks certain to leave Merseyside after just one season, has been deemed surplus to requirements by Benitez following the £20million capture of Spain forward Fernando Torres and the free transfer of Andriy Voronin.

Bellamy would become West Ham's fourth summer signing and take manager Alan Curbishley's spending since he arrived at Upton Park in December to nearly £40million.

The fee for Bellamy breaks West Ham's previous transfer record of £7.25million, which the Hammers paid Norwich for Dean Ashton in January 2006.

Midfielders Scott Parker and Julien Faubert plus goalkeeper Richard Wright have already signed for the Hammers this summer.

Curbishley had previously targeted Darren Bent and had a £17million offer accepted by Charlton, only for the England striker to reject West Ham for Tottenham.

West Ham and Liverpool may be doing business again soon after Benitez also conceded he was interested in Yossi Benayoun.

A part-exchange deal had been mooted as part of the Bellamy transfer but if the Israel midfielder is to join the Reds it will now have to be a separate move.

The Spaniard said: “Any move for Benayoun to join us from West Ham will not be linked with the Bellamy sale. We have made an offer which has been rejected.

“He is a player I like and would want to sign, and I believe he wants to join us, but that deal will be separate now. We will have to wait and see what happens now next week.”

Maybe that's what you should do. Go support other teams.

I've been with LFC since 1987 when I was just 7 years old. While other kids at my age were still having fun with Starcom & Visionary Knights toys, I was screaming for McMahon (the original Macca "in case" you didn't know), Barnes & Rush to get into 'em.

I cried when we lost the FA Cup semis against Crystal Palace & beamed with pride that Souness helped them win the League Cup within days of suffering a cardiac arrest.

Its just not about winning cups. Its about doing something you love. Something to hold on to through your ups & downs.

LFC may have its ups & downs but it has never let its fans down in terms of its relationship.

Yes, call me blind. Blind for the the love of my team.

But better than seeing it though your eyes...

I dun need a young punk (yes, that's you "in case" you didn't realize it) to question my loyalty & try some double-talk in front of a crowd here.

You're not a fan. You're a politician. See the nearest PAP centre near your block? That's you clubhouse.

Now, shoo, little boy. This is a big-boys' thread.

We're not wasting anymore energy with you.

CARRAGHER: TIME IS RIGHT TO QUIT ENGLAND

England and Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes the time is right for him to quit international football.

The 29-year-old’s move was prompted by him being omitted in favour of Ledley King in the Euro 2008 qualifier against Estonia.

“I’m 29 now, and I have to accept if I’m not a regular starter now, I don’t think I ever will be,” Carragher told the Liverpool Echo.

Carragher admits he is no longer willing to be a squad player.

He said: “Playing the odd game here and there is not enough. Four or five years ago I was happy to have that role but not now.

“Some of the younger defenders deserve their chance, like Joleon Lescott at Everton, or Stephen Taylor from Newcastle.”

Carragher added: “I want to stress this has nothing to do with Steve McClaren.

“It wouldn’t have mattered who was the England manager, I’ve been thinking about this for a while.”

Carragher has, however, left the door slightly ajar for a recall if the situation demands it.

“If it is an absolute emergency, I probably won’t say no if I’m asked,” he said.

Liverpool are expected to confirm the capture of Ajax winger Ryan Babel today.

The Sun says The Kop had an initial bid of £10 million knocked back by Ajax - but they returned with an improved £13.5 million offer last night.

And Ajax chiefs have admitted the left winger, 20, will be packing his bags for Merseyside.

The signing would take boss Rafa Benitez's spending to almost £35m in less than a week after the club record capture of Atletico Madrid hitman Fernando Torres.

Ajax's technical director Martin van Geel said: "Liverpool are very serious about signing Babel and have made an offer a lot higher than before. Because they want him so much, I think we will lose him."

Babel is still on holiday in Surinam after helping Holland's Under-21s win the European Championships. Yet he has made no secret of his desire to play in the Premier League and is convinced he can prove a smash hit.

Babel, who has also been interesting Arsenal, admitted: "Of course I'm ready but if the time is right or it's the right club is another matter.

"I'm still learning a lot at Ajax and they're a fantastic club. I'm still young and not in a hurry.

"We'll see what happens but for sure I want to play in the Premier League and again it's only a question of when

i dun like Benayoun.

Why never bid for Lionel Messi? Or Cesc Fabregas? Or Ronaldinho? heeheehee....

I like their style of play, hold the ball and dribble all the way til the goal.

I support liverpool, but their style of play no longer interests me. I like to see 1 touch passing. Too bad now winning is everything, style is no longer part and parcel of liverpool football.

But too bad that's reality, hope liverpool wins the league..... with style too!

yeah lor, sadly new generation of team, players, fans, owners of the clubs. They have different perspective into football. Some fans want to watch attractive football, some fans just wants a win, some fans want the best of everything (think real madrid fans). Some players are out there to excite, some just wants huge pay package, some just wants to party, get drunk and attack their team mates (think Bellamy and Joey Barton). New generation owners of the clubs just want to profit, who knows whether they really care what kind of football is being played.

Sadly but truly, reality bites....
