After Lesson 4, how is the break down?

5

6

7 - 1 to 1 assessment. Circuit + road. Includes one defensive riding assessment where u ride in front and the assessor rides behind u.

Hi, thanks.

I was wondering whether SSDC offers the book which tells you all the practicals (BBDC has that). Anybody can detail it till Chapter 8?

Let me try to recap...

L1- clutch control. Mini circuit. Whole circuit. Assessment on handling, braking and gear control.

L2- slope, plank and pylon salom. Assess no roll back on slope. Clutch release on down slope. Can go on plank without loosing balance, pylon salom without banging cones.

L3A - figure 8, crank course & emergency brake. Basically handling of these courses and your technique at the emer brake must be confident.

L3B- circuit familisation. Asses whether you can go through the proper circuit without losing your way. Memories the circuit if u want to pass.

CR - circuit revisions - once u pass 3B you can book cr... As many as u like.

L4 - circuit assessment.

L5- road familisation plus u-turn assessment.

L6- road plus circuit memorization.

RR- road revision -available after u clear L6

L7- 1v1 with a instructor... Circuit will be same as L4 with assessors at each stations. But on the road he will tail u all the way and catch all ur road mistakes... Especially the check back and blindspot checks.

TP- all the best lo... Find a good bike and arrive early for the warm up.

Hope this helps!

I am in a dilemma and quite embarrassed to say. Now learning at BBDC, currently at 2.01. BBDC structure is: -

1.01, 1.02, 1.03

2.01, 2.02

3.01, 3.02

4.01

5.01, 5.02

6.01

7.01

8.01

Took me 8 lessons before i progressed to 2.01, some practicals I don't feel I should be failed. I still remember when I took 1.03 (3rd attempt), the instructor look at the sheet of paper (beside our names, it indicates how many sessions u have came for in total), saw my name, turned to his colleague and shook his head. I was like totally -.-.

Friends are encouraging me to take at SSDC and I know if I switch, I have to retake the theory lessons, then start from 1 again. One of the reasons why they asked me to switch is that got friend recently took there and he also feels that BBDC structure is quite lengthy.

Some questions and need opinions.

* Practical Slots in SSDC, are they aplenty?

* Usually for practicals, how many students per lesson?

I have worked out a costing table (does not include CR, TP and vehicle rental). Would you switch if you were me?

Thanks for all the advice!

Previous I was from BBDC, I left them because I kept failing the same lesson over and over again. For every lesson I almost have to repeat 3 times and it's kind of financial draining me..

Stopped for almost a year and join SSDC recently, and I only repeated lesson 3 part 1 because I wasn't fast enough in clearing the S course.

PS: Failed my lesson 4 today because I was too nervous and throttle too much.

Erm I actually Blog about my riding experience so far at SSDC, if you are interested you can PM me (:

Thanks xxmomo...!

* Practical Slots in SSDC, are they aplenty?

- Depending on the month u are taking... School holidays are more packed. But usually once a week for each lesson sure can get.

* Usually for practicals, how many students per lesson?

Lesson 1 - a lot...

Lesson 2 onwards usually 6 per class. With 1 instructor.

Lesson 5 will have 2 instructors for 6 riders.

Road revision same. 2 for 6

Circuit revision 1-2 instructor to 20-30 from class 2b-2. They usually walk around the stations to help u time your individual course and offer advise when u have question.

I have worked out a costing table (does not include CR, TP and vehicle rental). Would you switch if you were me?

1. Do u stay nearer to ssdc? I think that matters...

2. The benefit of ssdc is that the circuit is indoor... Hehe rain also doesn't matter.

Why not u call ssdc and ask whether they have waiver for "cross" over students... Makes sense to have some sort of deals.

Thanks for the advice. Manage to pass on first try (thank god). I didn't have time for CR and the instructor kept stressing it's better to go for it so I book 1 CR just right before my lesson 4, which will be next week at 3pm and after that I will go for my lesson 4. Will it be too tiring?

It is tiring... I used to do that too. I figured I need to be confident with the bike. So I went for cr then "chop" the same bike for the assessment... Works for me. Hehe. Just remember that u can actually stop half way during the cr at the start point to rest a bike. I used to take a drink half way through the cr when waiting for my tp date... Circle until bored... Waited 8 weeks for my tp then...

actually SSDC is a good school to learn 2B and motorcar, tracks are good, multi levels.

Instructor they retrain us again for some reason in each practical, as long as we demonstrate good riding skills next lesson, we will clear.

One thing i learn... don't take it that they fail u because they "don't like u".

They are just keeping u safe... which is why Class 2/2A usually is 1 time pass... then just CR until TP.

Welcome myself to SSDC. I have done the switch and have completed all the theories and circuit orientation. So far, the experience has been better compared to the other school. *I forgot to ask about the waiver for switch-over* :(

Lesson 1 will only start 1 week later.

Question, if I book online, is there a way for me to see the entire month's lessons' availability? Cos now when I go online, I can only see availability for 1 specific day. However if I have already booked 1 lesson, I can't even see any cos it will say I have already got 1 lesson booked.

I don't think there's a waiver fee because I wasnt given one when I told the lady I was from another school.

And welcome to SSDC maybe can see you at the circuit sometimes haha!

Oh btw I have some questions about Turing right to the slope.

If there's a vehicle or if it's not safe to turn right into the slope, where do we stop? This is the part where I get kind of confuse.

If in circuit, for BBDC, they will advise you to stop at a particular position marked with a number at the side. Not very sure about SSDC though. Then before turning to the slope, you will do your usual checks.

Congratulations u made right choice to go SSDC, do ask more questions to instructor, they will give u tips, where and what to do.

Thanks!

I guess I will try ask my instructors before my lesson 4. I'm still quite upset at myself for getting an immediate failure when during CR I also never did those mistakes...

You can see up to 7 days per page maximum. I think you can view until 3-4 weeks away... never looked that far before.... usually i can find a class in the next 7 days...

Stop about 1 car length away from your ENTRY point into the right hand turn. Why? because with that distance, you can 1. Check back, slowly throttle, move like 1/2 a feet, check blind spot right then start to TURN your bike slowly. If you stop too near to your entry point... good luck with trying to do all that in like immediately...

Turning and checking blindspot together is a bad idea when learning... cause it makes u lose your balance easily. And TADA! your right leg is on the floor! Immediate Failure :p

oh always observes all learning cars in SSDC, you never know when they engaged in reverse gear doing parallel and vertical parking. See and wait for the motorcars instructor to waive hands to signal you to go ahead. Otherwise stay and wait behind them. Thats why to remember in stop sign after each and every station is important, allows you to see check before moving on.

Posted

In fact a lots of TP 2B will be failed, cos they followed too closely to the motorcars, when the L Pates motorcars, they engaged reverses mode. Thats is it immediate failure. And all circuit stations and outside road situation also very important.

There are a few "famous" reverse parking lots. The most likely to hit u will be the one after your Crank Course. That's the one that catches most 2B people. When uncertain, just stop way behind the reversing lost. You will not get penalised for it. If the Instructor never extend his HANDs out of the CAR. the assessor will assume you just GO. And yes. you will be considered as IF.

This is when your CR is useful. Practice running around 4-5 times every practice and take those crowded timings to get the hang of things :)

All the best! take it as a practice run! don't give yourself the added pressure.

at most wait one more week :p hehee :cheer:
