Just a random question not related to the school but needs some help and advice.

I wanted to get a scooter kind of bike, something like Yamaha Cygnus. Is it good for newbie rider?

It will feel very different from riding the CB125. Cause now u have to use your feet to stable yourself instead of gripping your tank...

But should be fine. The only issue will be if u want to get 2A... then maybe you might want to get something with a gear first... i'm not sure... I've always love the manual gear shift...

But between the pcx and the cygnus, i'm thinking the pcx has a bigger rim and has the stop/go system... save fuel? does boon siew have test ride?

Personally I think the pcx quite ugly :x

Actually I thinking of getting the cb125e since that's the bike I'm familiar with but with the box it looks ugly.

Do u intend to get 2A? if so then just get a older CBF150? or a yamaha fazer16?

Depending on the type of box... you can put panniers instead :) will look more sporty.

if looks is important... look at KTM, Aprilla... but the $$ will be alot higher... so not really worth it if u want to upgrade...

Thanks for the advise, maybe I will just wait till I get my 2b license then I decide. Now I think I'm still so far away from getting the license...

hi guys, i just registered for class 2b at ssdc. the counter people told me lesson need to attend in order (eg. 1 -> 2 -> 3, so on and so forth) but from what i saw here theory lesson can go not in order as long clear all 7 can liao? :(

also, can i book for my pract lesson 0 (orientation) without going for theory lesson first? And also now for practical no nid for pdl unless is on the road (pract lesson 5,6 and 7) means i can go for practical lesson 1 to 4 without passing my btt? meaning i can go and learn theory and practical simultaneously?

ps got so many qns! and thanks in advance!

Going for my lesson 5 today, I'm kind of worried about cars on the public road :p

Go slow, keep with the pack. Don't forget to check your blind spots.

The road you are taking are all quite ok. And majority of the drivers are aware of the L platers there... so usually they will watch out...

Key watch areas

1. Don't ride too near to TRUCKS.

2. Focus more on the road than where to start filtering...

3. THROTTLE MORE! you need to pick up speed asap. Don't behave like you're in the circuit... outside general speed is >50khm... you will feel like its very fast but when cars and bikes are going >70khm on the road... you might get some nasty people honking at u for being so slow...

The instructors will be there to "defend" you from the nasty cars so just ride as you're trained with all the checks.

Have fun :)

Theory class can anyhow skip. they are not really in the "flow". But usually the classes are bunched together... so might as well clear it once and for all... 1-7 in 2 days... i remember...

I believe you need BTT to get PDL.

You need RTT to get TP test date.

Aprilla : RS125?

For a 7 year old bike : 5-6k.

Insurance for a year : 2-2.5k depending on age. most P platers with aprilla get a quote of 2.5k...

sure its the most beautiful bike for a 125cc... but its also one of the most "bwang" i've known.

Why, i guess because it goes really fast and its very light... for a really inexperience rider... so that combined is quite a .... bad combination.

Enjoy ur public road lesson! Had my first lesson 5 abt 1-2 mths ago. haha. Dont be too worried, just try not to blindly follow the rider in front, demonstrate to the instructors that you can ride independently and do your own checks. And yah, the instructors are mostly there to lookout for the little chicks ;)

I'm not really using the bike to commute so thinking of trying a sports bike - while I'm "still younger". Then switch to my desired bike when i get the higher class... keke

in that case then mai tu liao... :)

can start paying attention to the buy and sell here. and sgbike . there are a few being sold... and since u want to upgrade... then don't get new bikes... unless u intend to keep it for more than 5 years :)

But a 2B and a 2 bike... the power is worlds apart... hee hee... even with 400cc its already very different... kinda getting used to the 400cc already... ah... its almost time to go for 2 :) can't wait!

I remember then using their bikes to help block off cars... I think SSDC should give them some "body armor" hahaa... and a bluetooth communication for the helmet... those walkie talkie are really not the best things for them...

Yeaps, i mean i dun have to pass certain lessons or have PDL before I go for 5, 6, 7 right?

Nope. can go anytime u like in any sequence u like.

i think only for practical lesson 7 you need to pass RTT and clear all the theory class.
