whatever the case is... if there really is a track here.. that is like PG..

1. the fees will be 100SGD for each session of 1hr

2. there might be a need to join SMSA then can qualify to use the track

3. the LTA will be able to station a road blk outside the track to catch anyone who has illegal end cans or mods done to their bikes/cars

4. we will be paying 25SGD for a tank of petrol to ride around.. compared to RM25 for a full tank there..

5. the only benefits we will have there more than PG... is no need chop passport... but have to pay a lot more for the time there..

6. if we happen to crash there.. all the insurers will definitely know of it..

7. we can be one of the first to set lap records there!!! hahaha even if we are really slow... just be one of the first to ride the track... then chances of setting record is higher... (only to be beaten by the very next rider)

8. I hardly believe our locals will turn up for the motorsports events.. though its a higher percentage that they will.. compared to going to PG..

9. those who have more money.. will definitely hog the track.. its gonna be a money thing..

10. all must have full gear to ride there.. compared to Pg.. where jeans is allowed..

all these are assumptions... but don't u think it will very likely be the case?

ya man.... i agree with ya :thumb: :thumb:

confirm smsa licence needed... 120 a yr excluding medical cert..

confirm need full safety gear... singapore cant afford to have any mishaps tarnish

their image n record.. these 2 requirements sure sian..... not to mention road

blocks... just like task force come to catch illegal modifications at kallang during

the caltex/mobil rallies... i tink the garment will make alot of money from fines

lo... sian :giddy: :giddy: :giddy:

Aiyah, we wished so hard for the gahment to build track. Now it's finally happening, please don't pour cold water can or not? :giddy: You people ah... Don't build kow-beh, build also kow-beh, very hard to please leh.

I don't think they can charge such high prices because of market forces. If it's too expensive, people won't patronise and will still go to PG. The people running the Tuas track will definitely lower prices to prevent the whole venture from going bankrupt.

I am not sure about SMSA membership, but I think there is about 50% chance that it might become a requirement, or at least being a member will entitle you to discounts.

I am not against full suit requirement, though. After riding for some time on PG with jeans, I felt really unsafe. Leathers are the way to go. :thumb: Of course you will need a full face helmet, gloves and boots.

I am disappointed that they won't host F1 and MotoGP. However, in Zhuhai (China, near HK) they host FIM Asia GP, which is a major motorsport event, every year. It generates huge revenue for the otherwise uninteresting Chinese city. If Singapore is to hold the Singapore GP or a new "FIM South Asia GP", it is going to be a big hit!

building a race track is juz lyk building a stadium, onli bigger...

running a race on a bike is juz lyk running a race on foot, onli faster...

but i digressed...

the ting is, obviously e govt has done their homework n i believe e operator of d proposed "race track" in tuas will b a private company n so, it will b privately funded, n i dun tink der will b any govt-sanctioned races as such.. govt will allow but wont really encourage la... the reasons 2 allow such a place 2 b built r up 2 individual speculations but if it benefits us, it shld b gd...

maybe one day, it will be as popular as the local soccer scene... maybe one day dey will set up e S'pore Prix (e automotive equivalent of e FAS' sanctioned S-League)... maybe one day, dey will allow race-day bettings... (u can read dis whole paragraph literally or metaphorically)

neways, yahh.. it seems lyk cars r involved... bikes? dun tell me itz d motard n cub thingy again, pls?...

racing on 4 wheels has always been a 'pleasure' 2 watch...

but on 2 wheels, it is juz anti-social activity...

wer is the LOVE y'all?!!!!

Being Singaporean ourselves, we should give our full support to the Singapore track. There will bound to be disagreements. eg. Track rental too ex, ROV ambush outside the track to catch free targets etc. All these are supposedly to be solved independently. We have always been considered 2nd class to the other worlds in terms of motorsports. Yet the number of motorsports enthusiast are increasing year after year regardless its any vehicle.

Indeed it is a good idea that the whole concept is being drawn up as a form of entertainment concept where the whole family can enjoy. Daddy and brother will go and view the races while mummy and sister will go do spa and shopping. Then while daddy and brother was viewing the race, they saw a familiar bike, a blue R6 speeding past cutting many pple. "Isn't that Uncle Cheong?" "Oi! Uncle!" But Uncle Cheong can't hear.

Then when the whole family comes out of the entertainment sq, they see our Singapore flag flying high. Finally our very own Singapore track.

I'll surely support the track.

LTA will upgrade ERP2.

ERP2 unit will be built using carbon fibre and sport a smaller form factor.

Registration will be by a self service kiosk and managed by ERP2 units.

Gantry will be installed at entry/exit points for track payment deduction.

Gantries may be installed at critical points for advanced statistics or as triggers for optional photo purchase for your lovely cub corner scene.

Tuas Racing Circuit will be fully automated.

TP will set up a covert unit there taking down numbers of potential speed demons on the road.

LTA will set up shop there ensuring no one leaves the track with road illegal modifications.

LAB will have an outlet there selling cheapies for post-race replacements.

HKL will be there renting slick tyres.

Loois will be there to offer tuning services.

Bikelab will be there to offer suspension services.

Dynasty will be there supplying race queens.

ERP2 will be based on GPS tracking. No more gantries. Big brother is tracking you all the time. :bounce:

Besides the track, we should have a quarter mile drag strip, with electronic timing, Large LED signage for time & top speed, and possibly photo finishing. Competitors can download the detail result from the net after the race. This is a small setup on both land, and infrastructure, which means cheap entrance fee. You can race a supermotard with a sportsbike, or MPV with truck, just one on one racing. :bounce:

KUALA LUMPUR, Sat. — The 10-year involvement of Petronas in Formula One (F1) races had benefited the nation in many ways, said Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi last night.

The Prime Minister said the international spotlight on the F1 race at the Sepang circuit since 1999 had boosted several sectors in the country.

He said a study conducted by the University of Malaya showed that the first race had generated US$144 million (RM548 million) in direct spending in Malaysia.

"This is indeed a boon to our national economy," Abdullah said at the ceremony to commemorate Petronas' 10th Anniversary in F1 at the KLCC Esplanade.

"I believe more can and should be done to harness the full F1 potential beyond just the race," he said.

At the esplanade, a crowd of more than 500 was treated to a fireworks display and kept entertained by performers like Too Phat, Jaclyn Victor and Khatijah Ibrahim as well as Australian group Raw Metal who performed a stomp-dance.

Abdullah said he was glad that Petronas had successfully leveraged its F1 sponsorship to enhance research and development efforts while nurturing a core group of top-class Malaysian automotive engineers.

"This has led to notable achievements like the successful development of Malaysia's own car engine and the first Malaysia-made superbike." "Also, the setting up of Sauber-Petronas Engineering A.G. has heralded a new era in our national automotive industry," Abdullah said.

well said....if this time round, this track is for real, i would definately support it. like a few fellow forumers have said, if you cannot afford, dun play. simple as that. if you wan to play then pay. even if the track is going to cost more than PG track, i would still go to the singapore one. come on la..we're sinagporeans, if the malaysians can support their own ventures, why cant we support our own?

look at it this way. an hour at PG would cost you 50rm on weekends. a full tank of petrol would cost you 25rm. total would be 75rm. for that price you have to squeeze like hell on the causeway. for that price you have to wait in the sweltering heat just to get yourself over to malaysia how about the journey back??. for that price you go into malaysia and travel on roads that have potholes lurking. for that price you go into malaysia with a fear that your bike would be stolen. for that price you go into malaysia with a heavy heart fearing for your own safety from robbers etc. for that price you risk getting run over by some maniac lorry driver who hates singaporeans. how about those blood sucking cops who love to see singaporean bikers to extort some pocket money from? what wold happen if you crash? you would have helluvca problem getting your bike back to singapore

i would gladly pay 75sing dollars for a track session in singapore to skip all that crap we get in malaysia.

there has indeed been talk about a race track being built in singapore since many manny years ago. even if this time round it still does not happen, we bikers should all rally together and lobby for a track of our own. it may not be viable for singapore to host the motogp or the F1, but there are many other races which can be held in a smaller track. dun forget, singapore possessed one of the world's toughest track for racing decades ago.

one thing about bikers being considered second class in the motorsport world. this is all bull crap. probably the image of bikers have always been tarnished by those gangsters on bikes. squeezing in and out of traffic without due care for others. getting their asses involved in illegal races. mod their bikes to irritate the hell out of others when they ride at nite. perhaps we bikers should all work together to change this image about bikers. i do know of many bikers in this forum who hold proper jobs. have a happy family. professionals in their own right. they ride with proper ettiqute. perhaps we should all work on this together. change the image of bikers. we're bikers. not gangsters...

Live to ride...ride to live...

Some are very unfair remarks...Given a choice which would u choose:--

1) Speeding at s'pore or speeding at m'sia??

(a lot of speedsters always go to m'sia to clear carbon)

2) Being stop by m'sia TP or s'pore tp for going 200km/h on the highway??

3) wheelie at s'pore or m'sia on the road and stopped by TP??

4) Play at the track in s'pore or m'sia where your bike kena total loss..

( insurance agent sure take down yur no in s'pore)

In my view, most s'poreans riders only abide by the law in s'pore but when they go to m'sia... They are like free Birds where they wanna do anything they like...

Example is ME!!!

Answer for ur question

1) If we have the track, why do u still need to clear ur bike carbon on the street?? U can easily do it the track. Safer and can use up all ur bike's gearing.

2) No one will wish to be stop by the police(sg or my) at that speed.

3) Answer as above. Why not do it in the track again. Safer, and not have to worry to be crash by on coming vehical from the back if u fall.

4) What make u think that insurance company don't go to pg??

The above is just 2 cents of my view. :cheer:

The track is said to be about 3km long - slightly shorter than the Pasir Gudang track in Johor. The circuit will be FIA-sanctioned but it won't be for Formula One races - partly because of the astronomical hosting fees required.

How come the govt never think of the astronomical money Formula 1 race will bring in?

Ior they think charging high prices for singapore cars/ bikes will suffice?

I'm sure the authorities have plans for the track.. maybe it will hold a series of defensive driving lesson for the bmws, benz. but i'm sure that many insurance companies will be sending their spies there once its open...

4) What make u think that insurance company don't go to pg??

Actually, there are spies from insurance company in PG taking down your bike licence number. If you make a claim, you will be subjected to many interviews regarding your 'staged' accident.

whereever you go you have to pay for your own mistakes!! wah i didnt know that singaporeans life so cheap that they risk it on the open road without knowing the danger lies on it just to clear carbon??!!! hmm.... then you can carry on you clear carbon ritual man! i wish you good luck and hope the next time is not you last time! cheers!

1)For pasir gudang track, how fast can u go on the long straights??? I doubt only few can reach 230++km/h entering 2nd turn at pasir gudang.. Unless the track is like sepang which i doubt so...

Clearing carbon, for me i'll be doing 250km/h above and do you think s'pore track can make that long????

2) Yep u are right, no one wish to be stopped by either..but stopped by s'pore TP will make u kiss yur licence goodbye..and a heavy penalty...Imaginbe those with both class 3 and 2.

4) they do go but due to distance, it's random..what do you think if the track is at their door step??? The probability???
